Yep.Good friend of mine finally got to it and sold his 66 Mustang fastback and bought a 81 Red on Red Vette.Find out more about it tomorrow. He did say it has the black finned Alum.valve covers.Does this mean L82?Car is untouched, stock as the day it left the Factory.

Great news, ANOTHER 1981 coming :D

As for the L82, sorry, all the 1981's came with the L81 Engine 350/190hp unmolested, but with plenty of torq ;) Check out the L81VetteRegistry also checkout the Tech Center "Model Center" for the 1981 ;) everything you buddy would want to know, and if not we have plenty of 81 owners around to share their knowledge :dance

zgator,

Quickest way to tell an L82 engine if it is original is just looking at the oem air cleaner cover...single air intake..L48, dual (twin) air intakes on the cover, L82 also if you look at the tach...there should be a L82 imprinted on the guage itself if its original...just a couple of quick ways of telling...of course there are many other ways as I am sure will be listed here shortly!

Problem is....did Corvette have a L82 in '81??? I don't think so but I may be wrong!!

Good Luck!!

I'm gonna look but does it have the 700R4 trans.I told him I'm pretty sure it does and that if it does he needs to check into getting a rebuild with the later service changes that GM did to make it stonger.I also told him that he don't want none of me,I've got the Big Bad "Crossfire"...LOL!!Anyway he loves it.Does need paint but he does that all day for a living at Gulfstream. He said he will throw in a new carpet.I stopped him right there telling him theres no way you can do that.Remember Ronnie it's not like our Camaros and Trans Ams.You my want to throw the carpet at something but it won't be your Vette. The car has been very well taken care of and stored right.Seats are great,no rips.Dash no cracks,He's pretty fired up over it.Since I got mine 1 1/4 yrs ago I've hooked two more. One bought one of those two toned 81's red/beige ext.Red interior.A girl I work with got an 81 pure white with get this a cinabar int.absolute show car.Stock from the factory with the big block 454,M22,Dana60.Um...ok my wifes poking me in the ribs. The stuff I said after the show car part aint real.Anyway I think Cinabar is pretty rare.Is there a way to find out how many white/cinabars were made?
