after checking the model center link I'm a little confused ( ok confused a lot). It says that my engine has 210 hp @ 5200 rpm, but on the shifter console it says 350 horsepower? um, ;help
also right now it's 383 in there and the guy i bought it from said the engine should be putting around 450hp, is he right?
1 last question, if you had to ask what would you estimate 1/4 mile time at? its got headers and it straight piped thru
thanx

Well, in 1976, I don't think anything anywhere except maybe Ferrari build a car with more than 250 hp. Somebody switched your plate.

As far as the 450 hp claims go....well, you never really know until you dyno it, or run it on the strip.

"IF" you are sitting on 450 hp, and all other things being equal, that car should run low 12 second passes with a 60 foot time in about 1.8 seconds around 120 mph.

I am usually a skeptic, as many claimed hp situations usually end up making 1/2 of the claimed amount.

I had my "540" hp big block dynoed indicated that I am putting only about 360 down at the flywheel. This is after nearly $9,000 in go fast goodies. So, becareful with those claims until you have had a chance to independently verify them.

I would actually guess you 1/4 mile time are going to be high 13 to low 14 on street tires and ameture driver (a lot of tire spin) and top speeds at or under 100 mph.

Thanx Chris, I'll get it dyno'ed sometime next year and see what it comes out.

There's a fairly good article on estimating horsepower in the January 2003 issue of "Hot Rod."
