Can anyone help me out? I own an '85 vette, but the overdrive didn't work when I bought the vehicle. I haven't had a chance to pull things apart and check it out myself, but a shop that works only on corvettes told me that the previous owner drilled a hole through the transmission connection with the overdrive unit to disable the overdrive permanently. I presume he raced quarters and had it accidentally engage. At anyrate, I'm in need of a new tranny & overdrive...so it seems. Or a way to rebuild it. Does anybody have a 4+3 or can point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

Drilled a hole through the connection? That is puzzling. No need for that. The overdrive is electric and can be disabled very easily without damaging anything. Anyway if you have not found it yet there is a very informative site at http://www.5speeds.com/dne.htm. They were the 4+3 guru's for a long time. I read that he sold the 4+3 business to someone else.

This guy is supposed to be very good also http://www.pipersauto.com/4speeds.html 4 speeds by Darrell. The automatic overdrive is blast to drive. Just change that fluid every year

Drilled a hole thru the overdrive?! That's a new one and totally unnecessary since the thing's electric... Anyway, thanks to a CAC member, try this: Go to the CAC's C4 Parts For Sale/Wanted forum and look for a post by Vette/Berlina-coupe. Just click on the link posted there and it'll take you directly to all of Ebay's C4 parts for sale 84-96. I just picked up a headlight wiring harness for my 93 on there. Yeah, it's alot of stuff to search, but it could be worth your time. I don't know if they're still listed, but I'm sure I saw at least three 4+3s for sale on there. Good luck to you! :w

Thanks everybody.
The drilling thing is crazy to me too...I haven't had a chance to tear into it and see exactly what the deal is...this is just what I was told. I'll post back if it's something interesting.
