I need help, interior lights won't turn off.

Today I go to the store in my vette I was in there about an hour and get in the car and try to start it and nothing happens. I figure the Vats key must be the culprit, I wait 10 mins and the car starts.

I start driving and I notice that the doors didn't lock automaticly like usual. Then I notice all of the interior lights are on so I check the doors and their all closed. I get about 10 miles down the road and the interior lights go out by themselves. I pull in the driveway and get out of the car and guess what... the lights wont go out again.

Could these 2 items be related or not?

How do I start to diagnos these things?

I checked the door switches and when the door is open the ajar light comes on and when closed it goes out so I prob can guess that the switches work fine.

What else can this be?

Well when mine started acting weird....

Could be one of the following not necessarilly in this order of likelyhood:

1. Grounding issues- Been there, and man was this not fun to hunt down. it's amazing what a little corrosion can do. You'll need a GM service manual to find all the grounding points. The symptoms my car had sounded a lot like your's, multiple accesories acting weird.

2. One of the light switches in the doors or back hatch might be on the blink. But that wouldn't explain the no-start issue.

3. The second time my lights did the "mind of their own" thing it was the timer.
My vette guru told me that if you leave the door open for over 10 minutes the timer can overheat and start doing odd things. I beleive him on this one because they started doing it on the way home after I'd stood around with the door open talking to someone for about 20 minutes.

4. None of the above or All of them. Ya gotta love the Corvette

Yes mine do, I cant remember because they lock different than my truck. I think they lock after all the doors are closed and I start the car and unlock when the car is shut off. In my truck they lock when put in gear and unlock when taken out of gear.
