Hello folks I am a long time member of the Corvette Action Center this probably my first post in this section.

I am in the planning stages of building a C1 hybred corvette. In case you have not heard of them its a earley corvette with a tube frame in it that uses a C4 suspention.

THIS IS A LINK TO ANOTHER FORUM MEMBERS PROJECT
http://www.villagephotos.com/pubbrowse.asp?selected=864857

Anyways I am wondering what would be the best year of a C4 to get the front suspention from?

What are the standard rear gears and how do I know what gears are in a rear end.I plan on installing a 454 in it and I am hopeing to use an overdrive trans so I would like a set of 3:73's or so.What would be the best year to pull the rear from.

Who do you guys purchase oversized rotors and calipers from?

I plan on removing the wheels and tires from my C5 (Putting a bigger set on the C5) and hopefully using my C5 tires and rims on the hybred car Will the tires and rims from my C5 bolt up to the C4 suspention

Is there anybody who sells polished suspention parts as you can see from the photos of Johns supention is all smoothed and polished but i just dont have the paitences to do that my self.

Thanks again

Larry

Other then the Spring rate most the front set-ups are close, with exception of the steering knuckles for the brakes.. I would say 88-new should be better

As for the rear Depending on if you want a Dana 36 or Dana 44 and the gear ratio. they are mostly the same

here is a link the the info on the 84-96 suspensions

I think all standard shift vettes from 85 up had the D44's. There were different gearing for different years. I got a 3:33 which I believe was a single year app. in 90 or 91. The gearing is marlked on the case as I recall. If I can find some pic's showing the difference between the two I'll post them. The cases, and batwing are beefier on the 44's.

I'm sure these guys can give you all the info you need. http://www.tomsdifferentials.com/

Generally, you would need the c-beam and driveshaft as well, but in your case it sounds like you may be doing a lot of fabrication which could negate this issue.

Here's a link to a BIG pic of the 44 setup out of the car.

Thanks again

I know alot about the midyears and we have all kinds of books that gives us all of the numbers, but I am at a loss trying to find the information on the newer vettes
