Just looking for suggestions on a good timing light. Anyone have a favorite ?? Thanks, Jim

Get an inductive type (clips onto the plug wire) that has an advance adjustment (adjustable knob so you can check vacuum and centrifugal advance).

Thanks, I was just looking on Summit racing web site, and had no idea there were so many different types and prices.I think I jusr need something basic.

Jim I bought the one that Sears makes. Not high end but it works great. Definately buy the one that has the advance knob on it so you can time the car up where it runs and not at idle. Makes a great difference.

Good luck.

2x4's is right ...get one with the advance adjustment knob. If you get a good one it will last a life time .

Snap-On for instance is a bit pricey for a once or twice use, but really worth while if you use one much ever..mine is nearly 20 years old ...has been used a lot and still is a great light.

The advance knob is a must in my view... whatever brand you get...

Just checked snap on web site.. the cheapest one is like $380. WOW I think I'm going to find a friend who has one, good luck. Thanks Stan

IH2LOSE,
$69.99, rite in my budget. Maybe it'll be on sale after christmas."hope it comes w/directions" its been awhile.. Thanks, Jim

Yea..Looks like they have gone up a little since I bought mine...but I used mine a lot for many years.

IH2 is right... the Sears model will do nicely for the occasional user....

~Stan..

Barry, your not giving yourself enough credit.I've been impressed w/ all you've done to your car,and you've given all of us on CAC alot of information and motivation to start and follow through w/our own projects.
And your web site is pretty cool too!!
Off to sears on monday..

thanks Jim, but would never have been able to do it without the help of everyone here, and also BWmurph who came over to bail me out of a few trouble spots. :beer

Jim

Run it over to my shop and I will let you check it out with one of the two I have.
You might want to wate untill the snow is gone.

You may want to check first, Jim. The internet site for Sears shows the light temporarily out of stock, I believe.

Smitty,
I'll let you know if I have a problem.Carbs have'nt arrived yet.

Thanks for the offer,I will stop over though. Jim

Ron,
Your rite I noticed that.I'm going to go to the store in person. You get my drift, never turn down a chance to go to sears.I think I should get some of those wrenches for the fuel lines that are cut out(forget what you call them) Jim

I understand fully!!! And I believe they're called line wrenches, like the dialback light, they're near indespensable also!!!

:D

Go to the Actron site (www.actron.com) and look for the CP-7519 Timing Analyzer (dial-back light); they make the same guts for the Sears dial-back light and put it in a different housing. I have the Actron dial-back light and it works great - about $75.00 or so.

Well I also needed a timing light to work on my C-4 And C-2 and the Thunderchicken.. I wanted all the goodies rolled into one... And since I always over spend on car stuff...this this shouldn't be any different.

So I found me a Timing light that does ..Advance..has a Buit in Tach..
