Hello this would be my first time winning anything this big. Last month i bought one $10 (yup ten bucks) ticket at a local car show. Its a red 1984 corvette. So far it has known issues leaking weather seals, blinking cluster gonna check the ground, and over heating fan not kicking on and cruise control issues. For the overheating i have read about the fan switch so I replaced that checked wiring located the relay and it was burnt up. I ordered a replacement relay and connector harness since the old one looked like the previous owner might have wired it wrong plus it was also melted. If anyone has a picture or link of the connector so i can make sure this is correct before i install the new one that would be great ty. The cruise control wouldn't work noticed it was unplugged once i plugged it back in and started the car it was at full throttle. I read that it could be the cruise control cable. Well thank you all in advance glad to be a Corvette owner even tho it has some issues lol.

Thank you
Gus

Congrats Gus!

I've moved your post into the C4 Technical and Performance forum for greater exposure.

Lucky Guy!! You are in for a lot of serious fun!! Welcome to the CAC.
The first thing you'll really learn to appreciate is a copy of the Factory Service/Shop Manual (FSM). eBay is a good source.
The fan relay is a common problem in the '84's, so I replaced my bad relay and melted socket with ones rated for a higher amperage. No more worries! There has been confusion about the coolant temperature switch that controls the fan relay. Hopefully, you found the right switch, in the pass. side head, between spark plugs 6 and 8.

Thank you Ill order a FSM soon hopefully this weekend i'll get to replace the relay. I have already replaced the sensor switch. So hopefully this will work. Thank for the info.

So i took your advice Hot Rod Roy after i replaced the sensor and the relay. I bought a shop manual for the 84. The research over the net for the sensor to kick on the fan is at 125. The manual says 140 and i waited to 140 and sure enough it turned on so don't always believe what you read on the internet lol. So all was well still saved some bucks not taking it to the mechanics. The weather striping needs to be replaced are the top. Anyone recommend any websites for the working mans budget. Thank you

I've found Corvette Central and Zip Corvette to be reasonable. Ecklers is a bit more expensive.

Welcome to CAC. 84s rock. Have fun fixing her up.
