ON MY 87 VETTE...ON THE UPPER LEFT OF THE DASHBOARD THERE IS A CLEAR SORT OF EYE ON IT. CAN ANYBODY TELL ME WHAT THIS IS ? DOES THIS HAVE ANY THING TO DO WITH THE DASHBOARD LIGHT CLUSTER?

ON MY 87 VETTE...ON THE UPPER LEFT OF THE DASHBOARD THERE IS A CLEAR SORT OF EYE ON IT. CAN ANYBODY TELL ME WHAT THIS IS ? DOES THIS HAVE ANY THING TO DO WITH THE DASHBOARD LIGHT CLUSTER?
Are you talking about on the instrument cluster panel? If it is the digital cluster (not sure if '87 is digital?)...that is the photocell for the cluster backlighting. It increases the brightness when ambient light levels are high. When the part goes bad, you can hardly see the cluster during the day when its bright outside.
