Hey,

I'm looking at a 1969 that supposedly left the factory with side exhaust option -- no longer on the car. How do I verify this without a buildsheet? Where else would options be listed?

thanks.

The best clue is looking at the body panel under the rear bumper. An original sidepipe car will not have cutouts for the under car exhaust outlets. If they've now been 'hacked open' to accommodate the present exhaust, that a sign that it once was a factory 'piper.

Lower edges of the front fenders were trimmed for side pipe fit. Careful. Without documentation with the car, you can not be certain the car actually left St. Louis with the option. The pipes could have been added by a previous owner.

:)
