While waiting to pick up my grandson yesterday at school I was idling in my 96 LT1 and it was about 109 outside and the ac went from cold to hot air blowing in. The AC clutch assembly was just rebuit about 3 weeks ago.
Just curious, this morning when I left the house it was working fine.
Thanx in advance Gordon

There is already a topic regarding this under the technical section regarding this same issue.

I only live about 1/4 mile from the school so it didn't really have time to cool down, but today it was fine, but only drove about 2 miles to the store and back, maybe time for water wetter

i did that:w and it dropped my operating temp down to 204..almost constantly...but i also added an adjustable thermostat on the primary fan..

I would have your A/C systems checked. Have you checked for debris between your radiator and the condenser? The reduced air flow would cause your A/C to be less effective. C4 Corvettes are designed to run hot and my A/C doesn't cut out when the temp gets to 230. I don't doubt the A/C is designed to cut out if the engine gets too hot, I just think it normally would have to get hotter than 230 for the A/C to cut out. The fans don't even run until the engine gets to about 227 degrees or so.

It is possible for the AC to overheat. If the temperature at the condenser cannot drop enough the system will overheat and not work. If the outside temperature was 109 and you were sitting idleing that is probably what happened. It might be a good idea to check your cooling fans to see if they are both working properly, just to be safe.
