... I would have stayed in California.

The last few days, the temp has gotten up to the high 90's, in Portland Oregon!!!! I talked to my Mom earlier today, and she said it was in the mid 80s were she is at, down by Sacramento. How wrong is that? I have to go down to California to avoid the hot weather. (Can you say road trip? :))

Which brings me to my point. My GS is blowing semi-warm air out of the AC, even with the temp control set to 60deg. So far as I can tell, the climate controll system works fine. My guess is the AC needs to be recharged.

How difficult is it to recharge the AC? Is it something I'd be better off taking to a professional?

I'm concerned...

Sis lives in Fresno, CA and she has already complained of 100 degree days. I'm worried about July and August if they are getting these high temps this early in the summer!

I'm rather happy to have moved away from CA, and from cold WA state. Georgia is very nice at this time of year. The humidity actually makes any heat bearable...so long as there is a breeze!

I'd have an AC-only technician re-charge your system.

Best to have it leak checked by a professional rather then just "topping off" Besides, you need an epa card to buy the refrigerant.

or you could just move to a colder climate.:L

Len,

It get's plenty cold up here. Not much snow fortunatley (in Portland), but LOT's of rain and over night freezes make up for it. Usually, the trade off is a fairly mild summer, but it dosent look like this summer is going to play by those rules.

Heidi,

You picked a good time to move to Georgia. This last April, we broke a record. We had 45 consecutive days of measureable rain. The previous record was 43 days I think, set back in the '50's.

Anyway, I guess I'll be taking the GS to a pro.

But hey, it's a DRY heat:grinshot Riiiight. It sure does seem hard to win here sometimes--- 8 Mos of rain followed directly by sizziling, searing heat. And hey, who cares about all that pollen and molld anyway? Ya know.

Listen twiget, if you've ever been to Georgia, or anywhere on the eastern seaboard during the summer, you wouldn't be congratulating anyone for being there during the summer. Their 100 degees comes with 85 t0 100 % humidity! Not the 30 to 50 or 60 we have here. It IS OPPRESSIVE for sure. Can't get out of a cool shower not sweating.

Anyway, I just read recently where someone put their A/C in the manual vs. Auto mode and it workd well. I'm not familiar with the auto systems, so just a thought. Otherwise, most of us need a pro. I have a friend with a shop by the town center who will treat you right if needed. Drop ne an IM or e-mail and I'll set you up.:beer

LOL, I'm pretty firmillair with East Cost summers. I spent 4 1/2 years in Norfolk Va, and before that, 1 1/2 years in Chicago. For all the insanity of the weather in Portland, I still like it better than the East Coast.

Also thanks for the offer, check you PM box.:)
