Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

if it wasn't for bad luck................

I'm sorry to hear about your luck too Barry. You could still save the first drive for yourself. Push her up on a trailer and get her home that way. Then when the time is ready, you will be the first to let her run.

hi ripp
the particular fried i'll have drive her home will be fine. he's pretty much the only one i'm willing to let drive her and it will be his first time driving her. he is the one that got me motivated to finally decide to stop dreaming about a vette and actually get one. he just sold his own '65 2 months ago and that was his 6th vette. he knows how much the car means to me and what i've gone thru at the paint shop also. i'd prefer to have been able to do the first new drive myself, but since i can't, he is welcome to the honor. it's only about 15 miles back to my house and i'll be in the passenger seat just enjoying every second of the ride.......... although we may have to take the long way home. :)

Hi! Barry

Sorry to read about your misfortune and hopefully you will have all your bad luck behind you. You can look forward to the good times and cruising in your 65. I was going to suggest that you have your cast set in the shifting position, but no power steering is tough.

Good luck!

Ray

Gee Barry... what next. Hope you have a speedy recovery and it will be nice just having the car back home anyway.

studiog
yep, at least i can look at her all fresh and shiney in the garage
maybe i'll have to put a chair out in the garage, open the door for some sunshine, and just enjoy the days with the car ;LOL

Yo Bud...I'm sitting here at 5AM reading this and shaking my head in disbelief. I only live 15 minutes from you, u know that...How can I help you through this?? I know their isn't much I can do, but if u want to talk "SHOP" or anything...email me, call me, I'll drop on over. At least, nothing else was broken and your OK (not much solace in that, I Know).....

Keep taking the snapshots of Baby in the progress. During the recoup, to avert your attention, keep checking the catalogs for things, websites etc...keep the restoration process moving.....

I'm right around the corner!!!!!!

Andy

thanks for the nice words and offer.
not much you can do really but you know i appreciate your offer.

how was sundance show? even tho my car wasn't ready i had planned to swing by yesterday but................
i figured norman would be there, he was last year.
that was the show i was really really looking forward to since last year and my paint blistered and i left missing my BOS trophy. oh well, no biggie, maybe next year.

talk to you soon

Barry

Barry, having "known" you since you first got your car, had a spate of unlucky minor mishaps, then to get the dings fixed, then thru the "while I'm at it might as well get the whole car done right", and the typical but never welcomed delays, and finally to the latest "broke my right arm while on the verge of getting the car out of resto jail" - I am sorry man, I can't believe your luck. Maybe you can spend some time under the hood for the next few weeks, try your hand at tuning up that engine, get a timing light, join the fun?

I would also be willing to bet that you don't wait two full months without sneekin her out for a ride, cast or no cast.

hi ct

yep, it's been quite an experience since owning the car alright! yesterday my wife mentioned that maybe this car is cursed ;LOL

i do want to learn how to do at least basic work on the car, maybe this is the time to learn since i can't drive her.

sneak drives would be great and i'll be tempted i know but i really can't do it. i'm not about to risk the car for a short gradification drive down my street plus while i could reach across myself to shift gears left-handed, i know i can't steer my non-power steering car one handed. as inpatient as i am to get her back and drive her it's just not worth the risk.
but i will see if my friend wants to go for a nice drive at times and i can at least be a passenger to enjoy Baby a few times in the meantime :) he just sold his '65 'vert 2 months ago so i know he will enjoy driving a vette again so we can both have a good time.

Bummer Dude.........

I broke my Ankle a 1 1/2 ago in Jan. I had my friends come over every few weeks and drive my Vettes to keep them Wet. Of course..I sat shot gun just to make sure no body got carried away.

Sorry to hear that you busted your wing. Now...according to that email I got from you a few hours ago.... it sounded like you were up to something ...like maybe coming to my body drop party with your freshly painted MidYear????
By the way... try "Mayslanding 08330 New Jersey" for Robs address. Laureldale NJ is the Township where he lives but Mayslanding is the Post Office. Map Quest and others may have it listed as Mayslanding.

Well....if you do deside to come please be careful and or have some one drive you with the car. Or have some one shift for you. It would be nice to meet you and see your car.

I also Heard From " Kid_Again" . He might be coming with his freshly converted BB Crate 454 Vetr with the Sweet Thunder Side pipes... I think we might have to pass out ear plugs.:L

Barry,

Sorry to read about your fall. I am glad to hear you are already on the mend. Pretty soon this will all be in your rear view mirror.

Try looking at it this way.....on the roadtrip of life, this is just a detour. When you get around to driving again, you will have a stronger arm.

Keep us posted of your progress.

Save The Wave! :w

My God Barry.....I just don't believe it. First of all, I hope you heal fast, drink a lot of milk for calcium. Secondly, I feel so sorry for you luck...well on the bright side nobody but you will be driving Baby, and you still can clean and polish with your left hand, so no excuses this car should be perfect. If I can do anything let me know....

mark
yes, IF the car is ready and IF the weather is nice, and IF i can make it to the body drop i'd bring the car IF my friend wants to come with me and drive her for me. otherwise if i can make it i'll just drive myself in my wife's lexus

collin
thanks
seems to just be par for the course for me in life :)

how is your car coming along?
oh, glad to see you back home safe and sound again.............

Barry,

Do NOT tell the painter you won't be able to drive for several weeks! :D

I'll ditto Andy's post, I'm not that far away either. Maybe the three of us should go get a burger some night and talk shop.

Terry

Barry,

Thanks, being home means cutting grass. I should have more news about the car next week. Even my patience is starting to wear thin....but its all for the better. Thanks to Tracy Krisler, I have managed to find a pair of real rocker molding panels. I had repros, the originals were long gone, as car had side pipes and then repro panels replaced it. I am know focusing on my 2002 Corvette, I have purchase some loop bars for behind the seat, and am having the hood liner painted. I can't neglect the other baby....

Other than that, just cutting grass...oh yeah I have finished the inside of my trailer and will post some photos soon...It come out really nice.

Regards, Got Milk? Drink it, cures the bones faster...
Collin

Just want to say get well soon! So much to look forward to, this will just be a bad dream soon for you I hope. Heal quickly & good luck! Tom:beer

I'm really sorry to hear about your accident Barry. Unbelievable! Like the others said keep on schedule to get BABY home and in YOUR garage where she belongs. Even if you can't drive it at the moment there's no reason you can't cruise in her as a passenger at this time. This also gives someone else a chance to enjoy it with you. Take care and I sincerely hope you heal quickly.
