What exactly came from the factory in a 72 coupe.Does the ignition square key only for ignition or did it also open doors too?Does the round key open rear compartment as well as operate alarm lock at the rear tail?My car right now has one square key to open doors and start car and one round key for rear compartment and a separate round key for the alarm have they all been changed at some time??

Square key for ignition and doors, round for storage compartment and alarm. I would bet that your rear storage compartment lock was changed at sometime. A locksmith can rekey the compartment lock to match the alarm key.

The alarm looks newer so I am guessing it was changed but I will definately get compartment rekeyed(looks alot easier).A lock guy tried to tell me that the ign. and doors were separate and different style keys for 72.Thanks a million for the info!!!!Tom73 said:

They did become seperate in '74 but for '73 and on back they were one in the same.pttsls5 said:
