was wondering if it was possible to immobilise my 69 (I think prevention is better than scare tactics).

Is it possible to get a proper immobiliser installed professionally, or would I have to say, disconnect the negative on the battery? Something easy preferably, that I could access from within the cabin of the car (I know about distributor caps, but I don't want to have to open up the bonnet every time).

An alarm would be great too, but I just think they are pointless.

My main worry is that I am unable to get comprehensive/theft insurance due to certain reasons (not a historical thing, but my status in this country etc). And although I don't plan on ever parking it in a non secure place, of course its going to happen a few times or more.

any help is really greatly appreciaited.

You could use a battery cut off switch, unless you have electronics that would be interupted. my .02 Donald

Heres a trick that I did. Since my factory alarm does not work, I wired the power lead to the HEI dist. through the keyed switch in the fender. When I park the car I disable the ignition with the old alarm switch. The car will crank but not start because no power to the dist. I taped the wires to make them look like all the other wiring harnesses. Not 100% foolproof but it will take someone a while to figure it out. Better than nothing.

This is what I did on my 76, now I'm not sure how this could be applied to a 69, but it may give you an idea to work with. Do the 69's have factory alarms like the 76's do?

aussie you can growend the neg side of the coil. if it is a points set up . put one side of switch wire to grownd and the other to coil neg side. I made a kill switch like this setup useing my sig lighter as the switch. disconecting the hot lead and runing a wire from coil neg to what was sig lightor hot wire when I got out of car I would push lightor in grounding points. car would crank but not start .when I got back in car I would pull lghtor up and start car . if it is HEI put switch wires to open or close hot wire of coil , or in other words in line of coil hot wire
