In the Tech Center it has a service revision as to Corvette Parking Brake Shoe Removal and Installation. It is for 1963 to 1972, is there any difference from those years to the 1973 model year? Just looking for information on Parking Brake Service as my previous post inquiry is about. I am new here and have not kept up on all things Corvette since the mid 1980's. So any information would be helpful. Thanks

Hi 19Stingray73,
Welcome to the Corvette Action Center! The e-brake systems and rear suspenion are all the same from 1965 to 1979 with only small changes to the 80-82 models.

Thanks for the welcome, I thought so but I have been out of the Corvette Enthusiasm for quite sometime. When finding replacement parts for my 1973 Vette I just got to the point of that since very few were still available and the ones that were were price double or triple the costs I parked it in 1985. I back it out of the garage to dust of the dirt and charge the battery but other than that it has been sitting. Last fall I had the fuel pump start leaking and replaced it this last week. Backed it down the drive way and when I pull it forward a trail of rust was left on the rear right side. Since I never really did anything with the parking brake the cables are most likely rusted to the point that the shoes are stuck in engaged position. Since I still like and want to keep the car I thought maybe it is time to start working onit again.

Can you recommend any service manuals that deal with the parking brake system, I am thinking of replacing the cables and all if it is ia not that much of a job. The only draw back is that I don't have a hoist to get the car up to be able to work on it with much ease but that is how I started working on it in my Dad's backyard and garage in the early 1980's. Then a friend had two a 1969 and 1980. He has sold those for a 1964 Coupe but sold that and now has a 1971 Convertible. I haven't seen him since the early 1990's. I want to a body off restoration but just don't have the $$$ or an area to do it but for now at least I can start on somethings that are in need of getting repair.

Any information would be helpful in regards to service manuals.

Thanks,
Mike
I am also a Mike...
