Im pretty happy so far. We're having A/F problems in the curve. The car is leaning out to 14:1 from 3100rpm-4600rpm where it goes back to the proper 12:1 ratio. And its running a little rich on the bottom end of the curve. He said we should pick up another 20-30hp and 40-50lbft with the correct tune. He's calling Callaway to get help with the Microfueler.

Anyone want to take a stab at my #s? We'll go ahead and have a contest now :D

Scroll down to get 'em!

14.1 yikes thats too lean under boost, those are the rpms where your car should be making the most power. Looks like AFPR is in your near future.

Lean conditions usually allows for more power, but it's a scary ride for the engine, primarily the pistons , rings or valves.

350 hp / 520 tq

Mike said the problem with an AFPR is that it would move my whole A/F curve....I need an rpm specific bump to keep from throwing everything else off.

Sam do you know if the microfueler is adjustable?

Check your email. I'll send a basic instructional guideline on the micro-fueler.

Some things on tuning-- roll the car on the dyno at a steady state.. let's say 50mph. The microfueler is not doing much at a steady state because the motor is not in a "boosted" condition. Monitor your A/F ratio at the steady state. If you're lean at that steady state.. then it's a sign that tweaking up the fuel pressure may cure it to a degree. That may be an oversimplification because the timing could be off in the motor causing inefficient combustion or you could have vacuum leaks. Basically what I'm saying is that the Micro-fueler is a separate auxilliary fueling system. If the main ECM of the car operates by itself at a steady state in a lean condition.. then the AFPR may hold a cure. As with any type of troubleshooting, any margin of things can cause a "flagged" condition. Good luck with it!

I see what youre saying, Eric. The problem is that there is only that window of rpm where its lean. It was actually rich, then right on, then lean, then right on again. :crazy Thanks for the directions...I'll pass them to Mike Norris and see what happens.

Thanks alot Eric....I got the instructions and forwarded them to Mike.

Will be tuned soon :D :D :D

True the AFPR will raise the fuel pressure across the entire rpm range, but if your at 14.1 under boost you have a serious problem. The two additional injectors are part of the same fuel rail that feeds the regular injectors, so when you add pressure to the system, the two auxilliary injectors will also respond with more fuel. Believe it or not my car runs better with a Hypertech chip in conjunction with AFPR than with the Callaway factory chip.

Now, what Eric mentioned is also true. Those factors may be the cause for a lean condition under certain throttle positions in a given rpm. 14.1 is safe so long as the engine is not under a load or boost situation.

Being that your car has the wonder bar, your system is capable of feeding higher volume of air to the turbos, and a AFPR is the best and cheapest way to add a bit more fuel under boost.

Have you tested the micro fueler to make sure its working ? Make sure the vacumm line is securely attached.

Sam the funny part is the A/F is rich (11:1) then normal (12:1) when the boost initally starts, then it leans out, then it goes back to correct. Mike is hesitant to put an AFPR on to fix, b/c then it will throw off the areas that are correct. We're gonna try to adjust the microfueler first, then AFPR. He wants to do a Race Logic system but I don't have $$$ to burn.

Josh, I agree that you have to find the cause for the irregular a/f ratios your getting first. But the fact that your car has the wonderbar means that your car will require some adustments in fuel delivery under boost. Yes it may be alittle rich under some circumstances, but it's better than being lean under full boost, and as I stated it's the least expensive solution for more fuel. The fact is, that a car with the wonderbar is stronger than a car without. and the laws of physics say more power = more fuel.

I agree completely. Mike wants to try the microfueler first, if we have no success, then we'll go with the AFPR. I can handle running rich at 2000rpm, if I can run normal thru the big part of the powerband.

BTW 11.1 is where you want to at least be under boost maybe even closer to 10 under full boost. 12:1 is a bit lean to me under full boost, especially if your not running a higher than stock octane fuel.

My first numbers....

Please be easy on my since the car isnt tuned yet....

This is a stock b2k with upgraded wonderbar, no cats, and cone air filter.

382rwhp/490rwtq!!!!! :D :D

Needless to say, Im stoked! Mike said when the tune is done the car will be 400+rwhp/525-550rwtq!!!

Nice Numbers

Hey Josh NICE NUMBERS!!! I am glad for you. I hope you can get the af ratio corrected that is KEY. I am glad everything is working out. What type of gas did you run in it for the Dyno?

What type of gas did you run in it for the Dyno?

Lets just say it was "good" gas :D :L

Pete I was running about a 1:3-4 114 leaded/pump 93

Boost was 55"

Not bad :beer

Get it tuned and hit 58 hg's then stand back and:_rock

Nice #'s

Even though I'm a naturally aspirated kind of guy, that is one strong motor!;worship

Thanks....nothing like your C8 though :D

I was actually pretty suprised myself. I didn't want to get over confident and my numbers actually exceeded my expectations by a little.

I said Id be happy with 400rwhp when it was running right, and it looks like Im going to meet that goal as well. Damn I love this car!

382 & 490

Josh

Those numbers are great :Twist .

I asked the shop my car was at to add the AFPR, and they proposed something else. They custom write alot of PROMS for Zr1s and recommended a new chip for the track. They want $600 (3hours dyno time and 3hours labor time +chip). The new chip would take care of the fuel issues, and also allow them to tune the car including cat removal at the track. What do you think?

Hey Josh

Hey Josh what were the final numbers are they finished working on your car? I know that there are three adjustments on the microfueler.I would love to hear what happened.
