I sometimes get a SES code that's running rich. I'm thinking that it has something to do with the injector(s) being stuck open because I can smell gasoline on occassion.

How much would a set of stock injectors set me back?

Are there alternatives to stock injectors that would be a little easier on the wallet?

Edmond. Unfortunately, shortly after I purchased my '90, I had an injector stick open. I had no idea what was wrong but the engine wouldn't turn over. I have a mech locally I've used for years, plus he's very good with Vettes, and in short order he knew what the problem was. He advised I replace ALL the injectors:eek since when one freezes open, normally others will follow:confused . The entire job, including filter change, towing, fuel system flush, etc, ran me around $1400., and was done in a day. :upthumbs

Ed, are you sure it is the injector? If it was, you'd be running so bad you'd be complaining about that and not the smell of gasoline. The fact that you can detect an odor of gasoline indicates to me that you should look into your charcoal cannister to check to see if it's plugging off. If that happens, it won't necessarily run all that bad, but you will definitely get an aroma of gasoline (Love that smell! Comes from working in a refinery and having oil for blood. :gap)

Check out the simple things first before you plunk down big cash for injectors. ;)

_ken :w

By the way, I've got a nice set of Accel 36#-ers for sale. :L

If you have a bad injector, youll notice hard startups when the engine is hot. This is usually the first sign.

Hook up a fuel pressure gauge and shut the car off, if the pressure holds for a few moments, they should be ok. If it drops, one or more is leaking.

Then replace them with the Ford SVO #24s, and an AFPR to turn down the pressure.

No, startups aren't a problem at all. So it must not be an injector?

Vader,

Where can I get one of these fuel pressure gauges at?

They probably sell them in Ecklers or MAD, but any parts store like NAPA, Autozone, etc should have fuel pressure gauges for us.

AutoZone for about $30. Buy one you will be glad you did, and so will your friends when they need one.
