Question: Install Aftermarket Radio in C6 - issues?

I have a 2005 with the Bose 6 disc changer and XM. I want to replace with an aftermarket navigation radio. What should I be aware of? What happens when I disconnect battery (i.e. lose all settings?) Is there a trick to removing the center panel? Can I use the installed XM antenna? Thanks.

Thanks for the welcome. I went ahead with the installation. Found info on panel removal from this forum. Cannot use GM XM at this point. But I think I'll research. Right now I have a useless XM antenna on top of the car - oh well.
