I bought this from a forum member, I think it looks good. I am going with black valve covers when I install my renegade intake manifold along with some 1.6 roller rockers.

I like the general idea and the flame work is well done and certainly a "cool" idea playing up to the cross-FIRE name:). However,I hope you are open to a little bit of criticism? Please dont hate me...I'm just a designer myself and cant help it...its my nature!
I think the flames should be done a bit differently based on "motion". The flames could be BOTH coming from the front so they are both from the same direction.... thereby implying motion.
They way you have them on it looks like the wind/air source is from 2 different directions. Yeah, I do get its "CROSS FIRE" but may be a bit too clever in a way or could look more like an X. Maybe the flames coming more from from the CORNERS to illustrate that?
I also think that the flames if they are coming from different directions could come from the vanes that are already on air cleaner that imply motion.

Still, I like it overall VERY much and I'm just being persnickity! :w

Ps like the coordinating yellow wires!

I was originally going to have mine painted with the flames coming out of the air inlets on the air box but I found this one on this form for $150 and that is cheaper than getting this thing prepped and painted and I really like it.

Looks good, now the whole engine compartment needs to match the theme. I had a cross-fire trans-am,i took the stock box off,and got 2 small 6" diameter, round chrome air cleaners on. Looked pretty sweet.

Do you have any pictures of your engine?

Get it powder-coated

you should have it done up like my CFI lid Nelson84 ===== This is a roman-silver Vein with the center sections scuffed to have a billet aluminum look( I polished it out with some polish to a high chrome look ..... this would last alot longer than painting it.

I already tried painting it and it didnt hold up that long

Now where every would you have gotten THAT idea?:chuckle

Is that an old pic? Have you had time to do the valve covers yet?
I'm still working on using the 82 covers to match the CFI lid...I just dont like these Edelbrock ones I have on...too square...or the OEM 84 since the vanes/fins dont extend all the way across the valve cover.

I still find that the polishing is a real PIA to keep looking good and wouldnt recommend to anyone...thats why I left mine brushed! Fortunately, the wrinkle finish paint is turning out to be very durable :)

I'm also thinking you need one of your cool 30th Aniversary emblems in there somewhere...perhaps on the HEI cover?
:w

What smog pump delete kit did you use. I am trying to find one myself.

I think I bought it from mid america. I bought another one for my 85 vette on ebay both basically the same. they say 20 hp:chuckle;shrug hopefully 10 hp:ohnoes. It makes the engine bay look a little cleaner.:thumb

nice looking air box looks familiar LOL

Now it is the star of the forum. How long did you run it on your crossfire? Just wondering how long the paint will last?

I polshed it because my cover was pitted with nicks and scratches.

If you want to SELL YOUR Valve Covers, I will take them, that way i can keep my vette on the road and have the covers done up the same way as the CFI cover and change them when i have to get the V/C gaskets put on the other covers are ready

Yes, you inspired me to get this cover done ( at a powder coating shop) No haven't gotten to the Valve covers yet , Im waiting for a slew of cash to arrive in my bank acct first. I will get them done just like the CFI Cover
I polish it once in a while , just before i take it to the car show
it holds the shine for a long time if i keep at it. took home 7 awards this last year after i did my lid this way( especially with the Championship

I went to the World of Wheels in Omaha last year and took home Outstanding in Class. another 2nd place in West Point Ne and another 1st place 1st place with a local corvette club Missouri Valley Ia. top 25 Best cars at a local charity show,
So :thumb to you for showing me that picture !

Not liking the designs of those I found, I made one from a 1/4" aluminum sheet from plans online. A metal bandsaw blade on the Shopsmith cut it like warm butter. A buddy made the spacers on his lathe.

Part way down this thread you can see pics:

I used accessories from a few different years of C4s and could not do what some suggest is possible for the '84: no replacement pulley is needed, unlike the other years.

I ran that on mine for a year the paint should last a good long time it was painted with HOK paint and airbrushed with the same the clear and flames will be a little delicate since the paint I use for those is more of a show paint than an everyday kick around paint I usually use it on the bikes I paint and for all my airbrushing my whole vette is painted like that including the gas cap and inside the filler door I got bored I guess enjoy

Is the cover over my Impala engine the same plastic/composite material as the Corvette? to accept paint. Guess anything can be painted with the proper prepping.

All upgrades look great.

Dislike large block type flames anywhre on a vehicle. The narrow swirly ones look much better.

Do you have some pictures you can post of your vette? So you painted it yourself, nice work. We need some pictures.:thumb
