Installing a Rear Spoiler

I am replacing my rear spoiler. Getting the spoiler bolts off took many hours and resulted in cutting the bolts off, because I could not get a wrench up under the body and get to it.

My new spoiler is actually longer and the holes where I am going to drill are closer up towards the back window. I can't seem to find a way to get underneath the car and up to the top of the body to screw in the bolts.

Any advise welcome from someone who as done this and figured out the trick in getting a hand and screw driver in the area to screw in the bolts to the rear spoiler mounts.

Nope, never done it before and never will...

That is why they call it a spoiler no fun!
I think ? remove the license plate ,spair tire , the rear tail light nearest the area you want to install the bolts.
If you don't mind tearing the rubber around the gas tank you can also get to the under side that way.Rather tight but small hands will help.:ugh

If memory serves me correctly, I installed a luggage rack on my '70 a long time ago. It used rubber bushings that acted like "wall anchors" to secure it to the car. I did everything from outside the car. I would think a spoiler would have less force on it then a loaded luggage rack. Basically the rubber bushing, which had a threaded insert "pancaked" outward when tightening thereby holding the rack in place.

Of course this would only work if the spoiler had exposed screws.

WIth care and removal of the gas cap, this rubber can be removed w/o tearing it.
