Instrument Panel problem in 1985 vet

If anyone could give me some insight on what my problem may be, I would really appreciate it.
I live in Canada, so it is just now time to get the car out from winter storage.
It had a dead battery, so after numerous attempts, I jump started it, then charged it on the battery charger. It works good now, but the instrument panel is not working. When I take out the fuse for the cluster, the car stalls!!!! Make no sense to me!
Has anyone had such a problem.
 
I don't have my books with me at the moment but I believe that the fuel pump is also on that circuit. That's why you're stalling when you pull the fuse.

As for the dash not working now that you have it out of storage, it may be caused by any number of things, but most likely is due to corrosion where the boards plug together. Someone will catch this thread and be able to lead you through what it takes to clear the problem. You can do it yourself, and Gordon Killebrew has an excellent book covering the digital display and the various functions, along with the miscellaneous maladies that accompany an older dash.
