Its me again . wondering if anyone else is having a problem with their instrument panel. Its an 89 and the tach is all over the place and the speedo is all over the place ( the digital I mean ) the bottom guages dont work at all you know the fuel mileage and the trip odometer. do I need to replace the chip or is it something else? Any input would be appreciated Thanks Tim

I'm surprised you haven't received more response to this yet; lots of members have had the problem with the digital dash. :hb

Most of the time it is simply dirty, corroded terminals between the boards in the display. (There are two boards that plug together.) If you are intent on performing the repairs yourself, I suggest getting a copy of Gordon Killebrew's book, "Corvette Digital Cluster, A Complete Step-by-Step Operational and Troubleshooting Guide". He's the "Man" when it comes to the Corvette digital display. :upthumbs

Now watch, you'll all of a sudden get tons of responses. :L

Well, if you are electronically oriented you can try to DIY followinf the instructions in http://www.corvettefever.com/howto/24899/.
If you are like me, that anything electric/electronic sounds like Greek to me, you can take out the unit (carefully) and send it to United Radio. This outfit fixed my digital cluster two years ago with a 1 year warranty and a very fast turn-around time. They charged me $430, postage included and had to replace three of the panels and do some maintenance to the unit.
You can e-mail them for shipping instructions. Their website is:

unitedradio.com

Good luck.

I forgot to mention, I have an almost brand-new (less than 500 mikes) digital display from my Vette that's for sale. It's an '87. ;)
