Oooops.... After installing the left and right bank intake gaskets. I gave my dog the front and rear seals for dinner and used Copper gasket sealer for front and back seals. MY PROBLEM is at the front seal. I used Copper sealer on the front leading edge BUT I did not go completely around the back of the circular hole for the crankcase filler pipe. Do I have a problem? Should I bite the bullet and just take everything apart now before I go further? On the manifold which I took off which was not correct (250 HP), did not completely seal with it because of an open slot anyway. I didn't look at the bottom of the 300hp intake manifold to see if the slot was there. hmmm

Hey Wis, I don't see any problem with that. I just did my 283 (a couple of times in the past few weeks) and the front rubber seal only goes around the outside perimeter of the oil fill port anyway. I think they recommend a 1/4 " bead in place of the rubber gaskets. On mine I put a thin coat of RTV copper under the gasket and let it setup a bit before dropping the intake on. It worked well but I have had problems with those rubber gaskets moving in the past. Good luck.

BTW, I think that front oil port is on all small blocks to about 1967???
