I picked up a set of fel-pro gaskets to do the intake, and I am just wondering whats with the two cork gaskets, I know they are for the ends of the intake, but everywhere I read it says use silicone.

Whats up with this?

what sealer is best?

Any info would be great.
Oh Yeah, I take it the temp should'nt be too cold when doing this, I'm in Ontario Canda, and I guess you all heard by now, we have ssssssnow.:cry

use blue rtv that is o2 sensor safe.

As far as the temp being cold, that is not an issue. It just means it will take the rtv longer to dry.

I like using Ultra Black RTV. make sure you build a nice thick bead of silicone along the front and rear, pay special attention around the rear as you need to go around the oil pressure switch. I also like to put a thin coat of the silicone around the water jackets. I don't know who in their right mind would use those cork ends they always include in the gasket set. It's a waste of cork.

;LOL

I could not agree more. They should throw in a small amount of RTV.

Save the whales
Save the wave
Save the cork.

Take those corks pieces and throw them into the trash. Do as 8388 says and use black RTV in a healthy bead on the front and rear china walls. Did you see how much the factory uses? Its obscene. :) Once you've got the itnake torqued down right let it sit 24 hours to cure.

I AGREE, DONT USE THE CORK GASKETS. :nono USE A BEAD OF RTV SEALANT. I TRIED USING THE CORK GASKETS WHEN I INSTALLED MY INTAKE AND FOUND THAT THE THICKNESS OF THE CORKS MADE THE MANIFOLD SIT HIGHER UP. THIS CAUSE THE INTAKE BOLT HOLES TO NOT LINE UP ANYMORE WITH THE HEADS. THREW THE PIECE OF S%@* CORKS AWAY AND USED RVT AND EVERYTHING WAS WELL AGAIN.:D

The Felpro kit I recently bought to do my intake did not come with the cork gaskets. It came with a tube of RTV black.
