I am about to install my manifold and am a little conflicted. I have a FEL-PRO upper kit (MS093318) and the instructions say nothing of using RTV/"The Right Stuff" around the water holes. The Haynes manual calls for it, but I am afraid to put any on the holes as the gasket may not require, work good with it on.

Anyone?

Wow. I'd be way too intimidated to punch the block and the manifold with a hammer. For the novice mechanic that's a great way to deform the metal if you're not careful, and then you have some real problems.

Jake has it right. I didn't dimple, but followed the rest of the instructions. No leakes and she's been run HARD for over a year. DO NOT USE THE END GASKETS! Follow the instructions and you shouldn't have to worry about the water ports. :w

Fortunately mine had already had that done, so I did not even have to do it. I just followed the rest of the instrtuctions. No leaks from the intake and it's been over a year now.:D

I used Permatex Hi-Tack around the water holes. Easy to apply with the self contained brush.

I did mine over a year ago and have had no problems. I didn't do the dimpling. I just made sure the surfaces were clean. My Fel-Pro gasket set didn't even come with end gaskets. Instead they included a small tube of RTV with instructions on how to use it.
