Been reading a lot here and on other forums about installing an intake manifolds. Pretty consistent advice on using a bead of Permatex Ultra Copper instead of the end seals that come with the intake manifold gasket.

However, Permatex makes no such recommendations for the Ultra Copper. On their web site, they recommend Ultra Black or Ultra Blue. See:

For this particular application, it's all the same. Most prefer ultra copper not for any particular physical or chemical characteristics but for the color.... it's almost chevy orange! If any sqeezes out, it will blend in nicely.

critchie, I can only speak from experience I use all the seals (gaskets). I use Ultra Black, by laying down a thin layer on the bottom to hold the gasket secure. I use a heavier bead in the 4 corners only. Now install the manifold, and never had on fail. I'm sure there are many different suggestions on how to do this and what to use, just as I'm sure each one has merrit and works.

I'm no expert, :) , but I use the black rubber seals provided for the front and rear, THEN I put a big "dab" of black silicon sealer in each of the 4 corners.

If the intake leaks oil, it's most likely from one of the 4 corner areas. Chuck
