1.) Where the T-Top hold down straps black or the interior color? Where can I buy them?

2.) On my 73 was there something on the shoulder harness seatbelt that kept it from slipping through the hole in the seat back?

3.) All the screws on my dash are painted red, like the interior. The ones on the side panels rear window trim, etc. are silver. Are they suppose to be red?

4.) Was there a 454 decal on the air cleaner in 1973?

TIA
"Jeff"

I can answer the dash screw question, as my 1973 car had a saddle interior, and those screws were painted interior color. It's nice if they still are, probably means no one has been monkeying around under the dash, as the right screws never seem to end up back in the car. I do recall the door panel screws, etc, all being chrome, not interior color.

1--my t-top hold down straps are the interior color. I went through my library of catalogs with no luck for source. Try the used parts guys.
2--I had the same problem. With some effort you can wiggle them back through but in my case they always worked there way back out. I also wondered if there was originally some part that kept it in place and ended up replacing them with aftermarket 3 pt belts problem solved.
3&4--no help here

1.) Where the T-Top hold down straps black or the interior color? Where can I buy them?

>>>Interior colour, not available in repro, lots available used though.

2.) On my 73 was there something on the shoulder harness seatbelt that kept it from slipping through the hole in the seat back?

>>> There was a molded plastic 'boot' with ears that prevented the end from slipping back through. I think Ssnakeoyl has these.

3.) All the screws on my dash are painted red, like the interior. The ones on the side panels rear window trim, etc. are silver. Are they suppose to be red?

>>>Interior screws were either chrome/bright plated or black oxide. No screws were painted interior colour at the factory.

4.) Was there a 454 decal on the air cleaner in 1973?

>>>No decal on the air cleaner lid for any of the engines in '73

Hope this helps.

Mike

Thanks Mike,
Yeah, in the owners manual there's a drawing of a guy putting on the seat belts and it looks like just what you described. I'll probally have to take the belt off the retractor to slip them on. It seems like they're always missing.
Boy those red screws sure look original.???
Thanks
"Jeff"
If you have time Mike check my thread for A/C problem.

Dash screws in 1973 WERE PAINTED INTERIOR COLOR on some cars.

You don't need to disassemble anything, just heat the boots with a hairdryer and slip them over.

I corrected my post about the dash screws, yes some were painted. Sorry about that.

Can't help you on your AC question, my car only has the 2/60 system.

Mike

Thanks all!
I ordered them from Covette Central. Thanks for the tip Mike.

Hey CAPNZ, check out www.corvettejunk.com for those straps. I don't know what color your interior is, but I looked for them all over the place last year, and found some from this guy. They were in good shape, and priced right.

Found my TTop straps in a cardbox box full of them at the '98 Bloomington Gold. Didn't have them when I got my '73 in '78.

No decals for the '73 454, other than the one on the side about the air filter.

My dash screws were interior color.

Thanks guys!
I just got the NCRS Judging Guide. They show what they call a clip. Looks like @ 3/4"
wide piece of webbing. I'm thinking this may have been what is original that's why they're always missing. I ordered the Shoulder Strap web stop from CC, (the rubber ones) NOT CHEAP. I don't know if I should cancell the order. Anyone have a 73 with the original stop on the shoulder belt?
TIA
"Jeff"

Jeff: Glad that you got a 73, Looks like you are enjoying it so far... There is a 73 web site set up by tom its called the 73 Spot very helpful here is the link for it. If you ever need any question feel free to e-mail me at tx51dm@netscape.com

Good Luck

Dan

check out ebay for the t-top straps also. i have seen many different sets from time to time (in all kinds of shape). they are definitely a color coordinated (matching) item with the interior. you can get repro chrome "brackets" for the straps (3 needed) from doctor rebuild among others.

Jeff,I just checked and have a set of old 73 shoulder belts with the factory rubber stops on them. They are dark saddle in color which could be redyed to your color. If you need a picture let me know and I'll email you one. Fred

WOW! Thanks. I don't need the belts just those rubber stops. (which I ordered for $22.00 a pair). Is the rubber stop like the one on the Lap Belt? Because that's basically what I ordered for the shoulder straps. Maybe in 74 they went to a clip like the picture shows in NCRS Judging Guide. If the stops are the correct ones and good shape want you want for them Fred? Let me know and I'll see if I can cancell the order.
TIA
"Jeff"

Mikey I ment, "was there a clip on 73 and not the rubber boot"?
Thanks
"Jeff"

Jeff, you can have the whole set up,the retractors aren't workable but the rubber pieces are still perfect. If you send me an email address I'll send you a pic and if it's what you need just pay the shipping and they are yours. Fred

Thanks Fred,
I'll email you. I just need the boots. I'll cancell my order. I HOPE!
TIA
