Have this 2 car garage that I am about to heat/cool with a Carrier wall mount heat pump. Builder told me the garage was not insulated.
What can I do at this stage?

Going to Frost King the Garage Door facing.
Also going to check the attic and weatherstriping around the doors and windows.

If you have access to the attic area use rolls of batting insulation between the rafters...put the vapor barrier toward the living area...R-38 is ideal (12'' thick)

If you want to do the walls you can pump in cellulose insulation. Lowe's will let you borrow a machine. You only need two 1" hole per bay...They are 16 inches on center. Seeing as its the garage, you can drill the holes inside. If you want to do the walls and Lowe's doesn't have the adapter for the hose to reduce it to 1", let me know and I will let you borrow one. Once the bays are filled, just put a piece of wallboard tape on the holes and tape it with compound. Done deal

Damn - that sounds so simple, yet effective :cool

I installed a Mitsubishi 42,000-BTU "ductless split system" last summer - works great! My garage is super-insulated (R-28 walls, R-58 ceiling), and this unit keeps my 2500-sq. ft. garage comfy in 95-degree heat with no problem. I was going to go with the similar Carrier unit, but it turned out they hadn't begun to manufacture them (and still haven't, although they're advertising them), so I went with the Mitsubishi system. Details of my system are at:

Mine is the biggest one they make (42,000-BTU), and I had a contractor install it - about $5K turnkey (the pieces are about $3800 wholesale). They make them in 18K, 24K, 30K, 36K, and 42K-BTU sizes, with or without heating capability; I didn't need the heat - already have that covered.
