Has anybody find a good way to connect an iPod to the bose radio system on a 1990 Vette besides the wireless or cassette .

Wireless is probably the only real way of doing it... there is no inputs on the deck otherwise, and even if there was there would be no way of 'selecting' the input.

they sell a FM modulator for the ipod. choose an unused radio station and the ipod will transmit through that station. BUT, if there is static you will hear it. get the itrip. its wireless and a huge convienence. i thinks its only $40.

I agree - the iTrip is probably the best of the FM modulators out there. You "tune" it by picking a "song" on the iPod that's the frequency... Made by Griffin, who also have these nifty iLights - white LED flashlight and laser pointer that get powered by the iPod. Great for a maplight.

Guys, I have to voice my opinion here. I've tried several FM modulators that absolutely suck! I am not a true audiofile however, after listening to a "Bose CD Gold Series Stereo" the quality of the ipod is only achieved by using a wired interface. I'm sorry but those other devices just don't cut it. I understand the newer stereos have an MP3 plug on the front of them. That itrip.....is it comparable to a wired connection? I'd be willing to try it if interference is eliminated.

I have minimal interference, but I guess it also depends on where your antenna is situated in relation to the iPod. The Vette is pretty decent since there's little metal between the two.

I'll say this - when you're moving, there's NO car stereo that'll sound good over all the road and engine noise. Plus, an MP3 player by its very nature has worse sound than a CD. The iTrip, when used in my house, has great range (two rooms from my stereo) and sounds like a CD to my ear. You get variance in the S:N ratio based on the volume of the iPod, too. Too low, and you lose signal. Too high, and you get static. For my money, the iTrip is the best out there. I think the Apple Store sells them so you might be able to get a demo. CompUSA also has them on sale sometimes.

very true. i have sirius satellite radio and it is not as loud as having the cd player or radio on. you do lose some quality and power with an fm modulator. having a casette adapter is the best way to go. however, cars with casettes are getting pretty rare and people like me who had a casette player upgraded to a better cd player. bite the bullet. get the itrip.

Here ya go...connects directly to the HU. I have one in my Avalanche, works GREAT!!! was going to add one in the Vette too, but I'm selling it to make room for a Z06. The Z will definately get one.

You'll need one aux-pod and then a harness specific for the HU application.

It works great, no sound problems at all. Depending on the HU, you can control the iPod with the stock HU's buttons. It also recharges the iPod. I have a Pioneer MP3 HU in the Vette now. The mp3 cdr's hold anywhere from 100-170 songs. I have a 40gb iPod with 2400 songs on it and it isn't even 1/2 full.

I have one of those in the vette and its great! Fit about 200 songs on a cd, so i rarely have to change it.
