I want to put 25' inch rims on a 1984 Vette, but I was told that it wouldnt be a good idea. A friend of mine told me that it would ruin the suspension as well as affect braking. My question is just because it did on his Cutlass Supreme, would it be the same with a Vette?

25" rims are designed only for SUV's.

I'm sorry but putting such wheels on a Vette is like putting a bullet to its engine. Sure you can do it. Just don't drive it afterwards.

:duh

The largest wheel I've seen on a Vette were 20in. 6 spoke MSW's that were on a Lingenfelter LT-1 test Vette back in the mid-90's. I couldn't imagine going any larger than that.

Sure...it can be done...anything can be done.

the 25" would completely sccrew up all recording devices, speedo, odo, ABS, Trac ctrl, ETC.

I thing it would look cool but you have to remember that if you dont want to have to reprogram all the computers then as the wheel size goes up the sidewall size has to go down at an equal rate.

but there is no reason other than clearance issuses that it couldn't be done.

The 84 doesn't have traction control or ABS, and the speedo comes off the transmission so as long as the overall height of the tire remains the same, wheel size doesn't affect indicated speed. It can affect unsprung weight, handling, and ride.

As for 25" wheels, considering that the 84 vette has 16" wheels with 255R50 tires with an overall height of about 24.5" standard, and the stock tires have less than an inch of clearance at full lock, unless you use tires that add no height, you will have a very difficult time fitting 25" wheels without a lift.

Why, you can install 25-Inch Wheels on an 84. You just won't be able to mount any tires on the rims...

ha, ha, ha, :blow ;LOL

what would 25's get you, lots of laugh's, just my 00.02

You could go with 22.5 semi-truck wheels and tires. They even make them in a "Low Profile". They also weigh about 175lbs each so I say "Go for it!".

25in wheels on a 'Vette....boy, you better quit smokin' that stuff, it'll make your kids be born naked!
