Is it OK?

I should put P285/40ZR-17 tire on my rear wheel.
But In my country,very hard to find 285/40/17...............

Can I Put my P255/45ZR-17 tires on rear 17"x9.5" wheel ?

Is it OK?

The standard tire size was P255/45 for the 8 1/2" front wheels, whereas P285/40 fit the 9 1/2" rear wheels. Maybe you can find a happy compromise in a P275 sized tire.

If not, I'm sure it won't hurt to run a 255 tire on a 9 1/2" rim.

A 275/40-17 tire will also work and that size is a little more common in a 17 inch tire.
