Your image did not show. But I highly recommend going with a 160 stat and have the chip calibrated to turn the fan on sooner if not already done. Also since these cars ride so low to the ground, the front air dam works like a leaf catcher. Check and make sure the area between the radiator is not congested with leafs and debris.

all done with rebuild

no junk on radiator either

yes it is

I went to your site and saw the pic of the gauges. It doesn't appear to be that bad. In stop and go traffic on a super hot day, it's going to get rather hot. I've had good luck with Redline water wetter. Give it a try.

Those pics looks in range to me, particularly in city traffic.

I've used water wetter in other cars with good results. Since Callaway recently re-worked my engine, I doubt if they put in any water wetter. Down here where it is hotter, my car tends to run in that range in city driving as well. Callaway does recommend sticking with a 180 deg thermostat, not sure if it has to do with the car potentially not going into closed loop (despite that not being an issue down here). Though I have gone with 160 degree thermostats on other cars, I'll keep the Callaway per their recommendations.

It takes heat to create large amounts of torque. Though the Aerobody (which improves air-flow) helps, these cars create a great deal of heat. Actually, I wish the hoods had side exhaust gills like my GNX which would help heat escape the engine bay.

Paul Deutschman - If you are out there, any thoughts on this issue?

Nothing to worry about though - enjoy the ride!

If anything the 180 stat might help you pass an emission test, which might be the reason for their recommendation, but you have to decide what's more important. These engine bays are as congested as they get, anything you can do to help with the heat is a must, especially in warm climates. In hot weather that extra 20 degree (160) stat over the 180, can make a big difference, especially if the fans come on soon enough. Once the temperature gets past 210, and unless you are driving at a steady 35+ mph the system get overwhelmed.

Funny thing....there was a big thread in C4 Gen(i think) on CF.com regarding 160vs180. Ive always used a 160, but haven't put on in my b2k yet, b/c its so hot here I simply dont drive it in the summer.

Jim, Temps look to be in the 180 deg f. range, no issues w/ that...

Try changing your display to show the temps off the text in the lower dash, rather than rely on that guage - Good for a glance, the text is a bit more precise :m

If I remember you can select gauges and bring up the digital readout. Hope this pic helps

Oh by the way Nice looking car
