is my 98 a part of the steering lock recall?

Hello, I have a 98 with 6 speed and have got nothing in the mail about this recall . Are all 98s covered ? What are the details? thanks Dave

As of this writing, the 04006 recall is only for 97s.
As time goes on, other years will be included.

Pardon my ignorance, but is this a problem with manual transmissions or automatics or both..?? I've looked at many threads, but its not specific..

thanks dave about my nassau blue. i understand that originally was a problem with the 6 speeds but as a precaution, id take care of the automatic if you have one.

When the steering finally locks-up on you it will happen when you go to start the car not while driving down the road at 164 mph! Until then, just be careful where you park your car!

Never hurts to ask... You might ask your local chevy dealer if they could go ahead to fix it now under an unoffical recall. It would save them the toe charge.

My 98 steering locked-up in 00, the toe truck had a He77 of a time trying to get the car out of a parking lot.
