There is more movement of car on all 4 tires than on the jack stands (you have to remember the end with jack stands is solid and has no give) :beer

Stupid question - Are you jacking the car up while lift is lowered and putting the jackstands in the cross pan, or are you doing this with the car raised? I am considering a drive on lift which is why I am asking.

I jack the car up with the lift in the air I have a smaller floor jack a 1 1/2 ton
I lift the car in the same spot as if you were using the jack that came with the car you know just behind the front tire or just in front of the rear tire (once the car is lifted with small floor jack just place the jack stand then raise the other side of car the same way)
The factory jack may or may not work I have not tried that one??

I haven't tried it yet, but I have some big jackstands I use for lifted trucks, and I thought about placing them on the floor under the car and letting the lift down from under the car.

All four wheels off the ground near the ground for rotation or removal for a good scrubbing.!!!!!!!

Sounds like it might work:upthumbs
I just have the Sears smaller jack stands (let us know if and how it works):beer

Just wondering, where did you spot the jack stands in the rear? I've been placing mine by the jack points since they are the only place I know is solid.

According to the GM manual, the only place in the back of my 92 is on the frame just in front of the wheel. Near to where the jacking point is marked on the rocker panel. It was on the lift this weekend and I think I will need to get a piece of 4x4 to lay on the stands so that I can reach the frame. When I get that worked out, I'll have a piece of square tubing cut with pads welded on the end at the right place to match up with the frame and give a little clearance for the exhaust and such and sit that on the stands.
