Maybe someone can help me. I'm cruising down the street doing about 65 km/h listening to the music when all of a suddin the car dies not the power just then engine. Now the battery was pretty low so I put it on the charger and tried the car. The engine turns but it won't catch and not only that the battery dies after trying to start the car but the stereo and lights all still work. Its an 86 coupe so if anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appriciated.

I just went through all of that. It turned out to be the fuel pump went bad. On the firewall between the windshield wiper motor and the brake booster is the relay for the pump. Turn key on you should hear the pump run for 2 seconds to prime system. If you do not hear it, you can open up the relay and push down on the contact to force the pump to run. Mine ran but not quite right, next step was to install pressure guage on fuel rail. I had 12 lbs pressure forcing pump to run.

If in fact it turns out to be the pump, then replacement is very easy and you should replace fuel filter while you are at it. Open up gas door, remove four small torx screws, remove door. Remove gas cap and gently remove rubber "collar" from neck.
Underneath you will find three hoses to remove. Then an electrical connector. Then remove the several screws holding the sending unit to the tank. Remove slowly, as you get it close to coming out you may have to twist it a bit for full extraction.
Pay close attention to the orientation of the pump prior to removal from unit. You may or may not have to make a connection to the new pump. Mine had the ground wires welded to sending unit and I had to splice it in. Installation in reverse order.

Don't forget to pick up a new sock for the new pump...They do not come with the pump.

:duh

ooops...forgot the sock....did the same thing when I replaced mine...had to stop and walk a block to parts store for new one.
What luck...town has population of about 1500 and I live 1 block from a true value parts store, even open on on Sunday.

Thanks Jon for the backup...:w

Thanks For all the info it did turn out to be the fuel pump so I replaced that and the sock and shes running again thanks again
