On Saturday I did a double oil change hoping to get all gas out of the oil. I think it worked; the first change still smelled lightly of fuel after firing up and idling but the second doesn't at all even after running the engine for 10 mins. I don't hear anything odd other than a squeaking pulley, so hopefully all is well. Hm... they don't have a crossed-fingers smiley?
Anyway, I started it up after the second change and it started its up/down/up/down revving again. On a whim, I shut it off and put the old (aftermarket but not custom) chip back in and fired it up again. It still surges, but only ~200 RPM instead of 8-900+ RPM. Hm! Might even be driveable now! So looks like I have minimal vacuum leaks (I hope) and I just need to get the chip adjusted.
I did notice that just TAPPING the accelerator caused the revs to jump to almost 2k. If the car's that jumpy off the line, it may be tough w/out traction control... but it'll be great when it hooks up!
Still have valve cover leaks (the heads do NOT agree with these ProForm covers) that I need to deal with
