Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

It's way too quiet

I have been working,I am on the way to work now.Yesterday morning I was waiting for my son to get dressed (he went to work with me ) and I climbed up on the lift and started the 66 It has not run in months probably november,3 pumps and a quick crank and it came alive Nothing like the garage shaking rumble of side piped 427 to remind you that spring is around the corner.
This car has an entire msd system in it ( I am pulling out to re install the original TI system) and the car allways lights right up because of it .

The economy stinks. Why? The war in Iraq, the stock market, your/my IRA's, business layoff's, closings, downsizings, etc. People just aren't going out. Retail businesses are really feeling the heat. My business? Just coming off the worst February in decades. Chuck

Hey Chuck, I stopped by Tony's Corvette Shop last Thursday and talked to him for about an hour, and he didn't even charge me! :L

Anyway, he is so busy he's working 7 days a week and has appointments until mid April. I agree with what you said about the economy, but apparently it doesn't apply to Corvettes. :cool

The Canadian economy has fared somewhat better than the American one but not by much. Overall, employment is up, housing is up, mortgage rates are still low, although not as low as last year.

Our stock markets are taking a beating overall, much like the American ones. My retirement nestegg looks more like a robin's egg now than an ostrich's egg and, if things keep going like they are, I might just make an omelette.

The part that really throws me is that the housing market is still so hot. My property assessment was up yet again this year. There are plenty of new houses going up and, as quickly as they're built, they're sold. The aftermarket is just as hot. I guess I'm wondering where all the money is coming from.

The International Olympic Committee is in Vancouver and Whistler as we speak, checking out Vancouver's bid for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

The only real concern expressed before the committee arrived was the transportation infrastructure, in particular the "Sea to Sky Highway" which leads from Vancouver to Whistler, a very scenic but winding and reputedly dangerous stretch of highway. The Federal Government recently stepped in and said they would partially fund upgrades to the highway as well as upgrading transit between Vancouver International Airport and downtown Vancouver. Both of these projects are seriously overdue.

But, I did paint my 66 yesterday!!

Whoa! :eek I trust you'll be posting the play by play soon (on a new thread!) I always love a good paint story. :cool

I spent most of the weekend in the shop. My '69 stepside project took a turn for the worse when I discovered that the "good" 350 had been left out in the rain at some time. 2 ruined cylinders. Don't buy projects from your brother in law.

Being a typical car guy after I seperated the good from the bad and after making a lap around the shop I have about everything I need to put together a mild cruiser engine for the truck except pistons and I may decide on a different cam than anything I have on the shelf.

Oh well. I really wanted a better engine anyhow.
