Jump Starting 97 C5

Well my car is in storage and of course the battery died. Should I jump start the car now, or just wait until April 1 when I was planning on taking it out of storage. Anything I need to pay special attention too? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

First of all where is your battery tender? You must have on to keep your battery fully charged. With all the computers in a vehicle a battery can go dead in as little as 1-2 weeks.
Second, it wont matter if you wait for April but you probably should get a new battery. Completely discharging a acid /lead battery kills them quickly.
Third, when you replace or jump start your car make sure the ign. switch is off so not to destroy your PCM and other electronics with a surge when you hook up the cables.
When hooking up the cables attach the Pos. first and then the Neg. making a quick and positive connection so as not to set codes.

Absolute right Red. A Battery Tender is a necessity not a luxury. I have 3 BT Plus's personally.

At this point, I'd wait until spring. The system's "forgot" everything it ever knew at this point so what's the point. Put a new battery in it, BUY A BTP and USE it when not using your car and you'll have no more problems.

I start my car every 2 weeks keeps the battery charged and saves me 30 bucks on a battery tender. Where in MA are you located?

i'm in sharon. i was suppose to do that too, but it didn't work out that way. it won't happen again

If you don't use a tender, just disconnect the battery.

I spent 6 months on a deployment back in '01. I left the battery DISCONNECTED while it sat in my garage. Hooked it back up- no problems starting. I didn't want to buy a tender because I was worried about the thing catching on fire since I was going to be unable to loo after it.

At the very least start it every two weeks and let it run up to operating temp!
