Most of you know Larry and his "Yellow 62" project that is going at a break neck pace. I know he keeps me motivated when I start to slack off a bit, maybe you too. Well anyway Larry is layed up in bed after a nasty fall that aggrevated his problematic knees. I just want to wish him well and I'm sure he will resume his whirlwind pace as soon as he gives himself a little time to recover. Best of luck Larry and grab a lap top and keep the C1 C2 tech. threads coming!

Yeah, I know all about bad knees. It sucks getting old!

Get well soon Larry.

Larry

stop laying around being lazy and get to work on that car damnit!
;LOL

seriously, take your time, relax, and don't push the recovery.
Hope you feel better soon.
meanwhile spoil yourself by just having fun, waste your mind with some pointless TV, and keep the laptop close to stay on here and don't forget the liquid refreshments to make the time go by easier ;LOL

Get well soon Larry...We need another corvette on the road... :grouphug:

Bummer Larry....,

I was laid up last year with a busted ankle.... So I feel your pain....Well..not excactly. But get well dude..:beer

Sorry to hear about your accident Larry, and wishing you a speedy:lou recovery.

Thank you all for the concern,

Its something I have to deal with untill I have my knee replaced whitch is NO time in the near future,( at least another 7 to 10 years I hope) I was really lucky,no major damage done to the right knee, and a slight tear is showing up on the left side that was not there the last time I had it checked in October of 04. So the good news No immediate surgery is needed and I am out of bed again and mobile and back to work,The bad news in I am back in my leg braces to allow the knees to recover. So only time will tell whats in store. I will be back in my brace for 2 weeks (Not bad I used to have to wear them full time) and as long as the knee will support me again I will be good to go. If the knee doesnt support me then I am back to wearing a brace full time or I could opt to have the cap replaced right away.My hopes are just to wait untill September to get a new knee cap installed,

Again Thanks for the concern, allthought I have to take it easey I am at least out of bed and back to work,

Larry, take it easy on those knees while you're working on the car - good excuse for an occasional beer break :) . My wife had surgery on both knees (BIG incisions) 30 years ago (long before the techniques they have today), and had one kneecap removed entirely; no jogging or dancing, but other than that it hasn't slowed her down a bit. :D

Larry

i know about knee problems well. About 12-13 years ago i was in a motorcycle accident and broke my left leg into about 60 pieces (the bone just plain shattered!) plus almost destroyed my entire left knee. Luckily they were able to save the leg although I found out AFTER the operation that the surgeon wasn't too confident he was going to be able to and almost had to amputate the leg just above the knee.
I still have a big plate and 13 screws in there holding everything together.

I got VERY lucky. They saved my leg, but I was told I would always limp and have very restricted movement at the knee. I worked harder at my physical therapy than I ever worked at anything in my entire life just to prove him wrong and I have no limp and regained approx 98% of my movement at my knee. I shocked the hell out of my surgeon ;LOL

After he left his practice to accept a dept chair at a medical school he actually asked permission to use my xrays and case as a case study for the med students in his department.

The strange part of everything (at least to me) is that I look at my leg and knee knowing how much reconstruction they had to do and I always remeber that as bad as it was broken, the worst pain after the surgery was from a small 2" incision they made in my hip for a bone graft to use in my leg rather than the 11" incision in my leg and up over my knee.

Ironically, I did all that damage to my leg and knee by working to keep the damn bike up. If I had let myself go down it probably never would have happened. Unnfortunately in my situation I had no choice at the time, I had to stay up to manuver the bike or I was about to be the motorcycle meat in the middle of a 3 car sandwich. I still rode another 3 blocks to work without realizing I broke my leg because it went completely numb on me. I didn't know how bad it was until I went to put the kickstand down and couldn't move my leg. I had a co-worker put the stand down for me and when i tried to get off the bike I just went straight down to the ground with my leg off to the side - a direction a leg is NOT suppose to go to ;LOL

Glad you don't need surgery for a while and that you are up and about again but don't overdo it too soon, let it heal.

Barry

Hello Larry
I am sorry to hear about your knee problems. I have a lot of knee problems and had a ACL replacement(severed) on my left knee with cartilidge repair at the same time. I have also torn my right ACL, but did not severe it. Laying on the cold ground does not help with the aches either. (I am getting a hoist now) If surgery deems necessary, you will be surprised of the recent medical advancements for this.
take care and get well
Tom

LArry...take care of those knees....I have had 3 surgeries in the past 2 years on my knees (2 on the left and one on the right). The one on the left this last time has really taken some time to heal and to quit being sore. My orthopedic surgeon told me to get some glucosamine chondroitin (over the counter) and take that. He told me that clinical tests have indicated a slowing of loss of cartliage to stopping loss to actually increasing.

I started it and it takes about 2 to 3 months before it starts to kick in...but what a difference. Friends that are also taking it have reported similar results. The stuff is expensive though....about $40 a bottle, but look around you can usually get a deal, like buy one get one free.

Ask your doc about it.....well worth getting and trying....I don't know if my knee is better because of it or just time....but my doc uses it for his hip as well....so if things get better in the knees....I will keep taking it......

now....don't you owe us some pictures of that windshield removal?

Larry,

Sorry to hear of your fall. However we are all glad that you are up and about again. Take care of those knees and don't overdo it.

Brian

Larry,

Take it easy there man! I know your pain, I am going to be going under the knife for my ankles in the next couple of weeks, and it is going to be miserable not being able to work on the car for several weeks!

Regards, John McGraw

John I wish you the best of luck,The hardest part is the recovery of having to lay around, there is only so many books you can read, the TV softens your mind, So my recomendation/persciption to you John is to wright a LONG summery of your project and I will put in on my web site on the pages I have reserved for you.

YUP it happened again,Yes I do have a problems sitting still. But I do follow my doctors orders to the "T" I dont push my self when I shouldnt.

The funny thing here was I almost made it thru the entire winter with no fall ons ice. I had been on my feet since Thursday night,Sunday night I removed my brace and was relaxing on my bed,I got up to use the rest room and get some thing. about 2 steps in my knee colasped and I got tangeled up in some furniture and my dog,Its normall for it to give out (at least normal for my body untill I get it replaced)

So for me I am thrilled nothing bad happened.I have not been in my garage at night, I will be away all next week on buisness So by the time I get back Ill be ready to get some things acomplished.

Thanks again guys for the concern,But to me its just a minor inconvenance
