Holy Smokes!!!!!!!!

As most of you know the car was boosting a little high. Im starting to think the wastegates could be carboned up. So I filled up a while ago and went for a drive. At 56-57 Hgs I had ZERO detonation and the car pulled like a freakin beast.

But at 3.99/gallon, you do the math. If the wastegates don't loosen themselves up, I will help them out shortly. I can't afford that kinda gas bill, and the extra power isn't worth the wear on the motor.

Ahhhhh, if only that gas was cheaper :D

Sounds like you are enjoying your new ride!!!

Don't get too used to it if you don't plan to keep it at that level... IT'S VERY ADDICTIVE!!

Tell me about it! But no more than Im going to drive the car, maybe I can leave it that way. Only time will tell.

Kevin, can you email me those instructions on adjusting boost. Chris already showed me what to turn, but Id like to have a hard copy for reference.

Ok, $3.99 per gallon...

1200 miles to Florida...

Let's say 15mpg doing some serious cruising...

That's 80 gallons of gas and $320.00...

I'll tellya what!! Give me $320.00 and I'll drive that car anywhere! It's not worth thinking about a plain ticket!

:D Id consider it but Im already home with the car :D I got 21mpg on the way here burning 93 octane. I just wanted to get some of the good stuff when I got home, b/c of where the boost is set.

Premium pump gas here in sweden are 9.97 SEK (Swedish money) per liter.

$1 is 8.525 SEK.
1 Gallon is 3.785 liters.

9.97 x 3.785 / 8.525 = $4.42 per gallon
That is for pump gas ... not any race fuel ...

The least expensive pump fuel is 9.50 SEK per liter.
9.50 x 3.785 / 8.525 = $4.22 per gallon

I have only one thing to say.

"I WANT YOUR CAR"

:hb ;LOL

I'm in the process of selling my first born, so I may have some money soon. hehehe.. j/k

It would be cool to run your car on a dyno with 93 and then the 100 octane to see if how much gain there is.

I ran 100 octane once, I felt only a very tiny difference. Wonder if it's different because of the twin turbo
Well, I also don't have any detonation issues. Mayeb that's why

Folks,

A quick question regaring 100~103 octane gas for those of you that are running mixed out there. Kevin :crazy

I have been mixing close to 50% 103 octane with 50% 93 octane which should yield about 98 octane. Like Surf says, it runs great.

It has eliminated noticeable, occasional detonation but can prolonged use of higher octane cause any problems?? Do the heads run hotter? etc. Pittfals? Pro's? Cons?

Also I recently purchased a copy of DataMaster but have yet to install it on a PC. Any feedback from anyone using this tool?

Are you talkin' to me?

I have been running about 4-5 gal. of Cam2 with 93 Octane unleaded per tank. I believe the Cam2 is about 110 octane. I haven't been able to find 100 octane unleaded around here. By the time I came back from Carlisle last summer I was pretty much running straight Sunoco 94. (The best pump gas I could find down there.) It actually runs better with just the straight Sunoco 94. The Cam2 seems to hurt drivability a bit. Maybe because the O2 sensor is choking on all the lead? I don't think using it will raise combustion temperatures. I would expect it to do just the opposite since it is less volatile but I don't know for sure.

I have Datamaster, as you know. I think it works great! Nice graphic display, lots of data points and logging capabilities w/playback. I get very few knock counts in Datamaster running the straight Sunoco 94 as well. I may do away with using Cam2 completely.

Well, I do remember within the last twenty yrs or more that one of the car mags ran test using low octane all the way up to race fuel level octane and also a mix of both in a chevy 350 eqiupt car. First they verified the car was running perfectly, no detonation etc. Then did the test. Even they were surprised that the test showed the High octane unleaded 93 was the best choice for this car. If i recall it correctly, it said the race fuel really does make a difference in high compression engines, high meaning static 12:1 and up.
Every enigine is different so this may not apply.

I have also noticed a stumbling idle when running the 110 or 114 leaded. Mine seems to run best on a blend of 100 & 93.
