1997 White Coupe
I sold my '96 polo green A4 coupe last week, and bought a '97 A4 white coupe with 19,000 miles. I loved my C4, but what a difference!! I love the overall driving experience in the C5, and I fit inside it better. The only thing I liked better about the C4 was the seats. I have attached a pic of the new toy. I look forward to participating in the C5 forum with you all. Thanks!

Welcome to the world of C5s.

Having both a C4 and a C5, I certainly understand how you feel. We love our C5 and our C4 but for different reasons.

2,300 miles a year!! ;shrug Man, no vette should sit that much!

Welcome.

Welcome to the land of the C5's. It sounds like you got a sweet one. Better put some miles on her!

Do you think you'll keep the Green LT1 name?

Tammy

Thanks for the support! I do need to change my name - hopefully I will get to that this weekend!!

There is a sticky thread in the Help and Feedback section for name changes, when you decide to do it.

Hello, GreenLT1, and welcome to the wonderful world of the C5! Nice looking coupe you have there! :)

After you've had a chance to drive it for a while, there's a thread Warren started where those of us who have gone from C4's to C5's have commented on the differences in experience we've noticed, and what we miss in the C4's. Makes for a good read.

But don't misread what he said, he loved his C3's too. Didn't know him when he had the C4 though, he may have hated it for all I know:L.

The C4 was ok (84) and how could you not love my 82's, Eric, but the mistake was taking a 3000 mile trip with Remo in his 2001. I find the C5's so comfortable.

I went through the same conversion a few months ago. I sold my '96 LT4 Artic White convertible and bought a 2000 with an automatic transmission. I am still trying to put the difference in words. It's smoother in every way but the power is there when you get on it and it corners like a slot racer.

I have enjoyed the change much more than I would have guessed and I think you will too.

Welcome aboard the C5 train - watch out for mod'fever!!!!

I hear what you say about "fitting in" better with the C5. My wife and I could never go out and have dinner in our '94 since it was difficult to get in with a full belly LOL. She also hated getting in/out wearing a dress or skirt. Much better in our 2001 and we like taking long rides/trips after we ditched the Goodyear EMTs for Goodyear F1 GS-D3s which were much quieter and smoother riding.

All the C's

I have had a 62, a 73, a 96 and now a 2000 - all convertibles and all but the 2000 with the manual trans. The 62 was more comfortable on a long trip than the 73, which was terrible. The 96 was an LT4 and the power was evident in almost all gears. Never took it on a long trip but the road noise would have been hard to take. The 2000 is easier to drive and can fool you because it is so smooth. It rides well and easily handles the bumps, yet it can corner better than the 96. With the auto trans it handles bumper to bumper rush hour and interstate equally well and it never ceases to surprise me with the jump and acceleration when I put my foot into the accelerator. The engineering on the 2000 is far beyond the 96. The computer is far more sophisticated and you can read most of the problems right on the dash.

I liked each of these cars, but I think the 2000 is the best yet.

How right you are. My wife says that getting into and out of the C4 was like getting into and out of a bathtub. :L And she will drive the 2000 but would not touch the 96. Hmmm, maybe that's a minus :eyerole ?
