Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

just picked my 388 stroker and T56 tranny up!

Hi,

Is not a 383 a .030 over 350 + 3.75 stroke?
396 = .030 over + 3,875 stroke?

According to John Lingenfelter's book, a 383 is a 350 that's .030 over with a 3.75 stroke. A 388 is a a 350 that's .060 over with a 3.75 stroke, and he doesn't list a 396. A quick web search seems to show that you're right about the 396 as well, though there was a factory 396 that appeared to use a 400 block.
