K&N Air Fliter Cleaning and Oiling

Does anyone know of acceptable cleaning and oiling substitutes for a K&N air filter?

I recently installed one on my car; however, I cannot buy through the mail the cleaner and oil for the filter since I live in Germany. Has anyone used substitutes who can fill me in on what works?

I started researching this and it dawned on me that any good machine oil should do the trick. I'd try a light coating until you see what the outcome is. Same thing with cleaners, try a mild cleaner (soap) on a used filter or something. There can't be much to the oils and cleaners. After all, it ain't rocket science, eh? :L
