I wouldn't take his advice too seriously if that is any indication of his knowledge of engine lubrication. :nonovetteboy86 said:... the guy at auto zone told me that I did not need to change it with every oil change.
vetteboy86 said:I used one for the first time on my car and there were no problems. However the guy at auto zone told me that I did not need to change it with every oil change. I dont know if i like the sound of that.

vetteboy86 said:Before the K&N oil filter i always ran AC delco and changed the oil every 2200 to 2500 miles. I change the filter every oil change, what is the difference between the AC delco and the K&N filter other than the 10 bucks. Do any of you use a magnetic drain plug or a filter magnet.

On your 87, the part number is listed as HP-2002. There's a note that it will fit if you have an 8 at the 8th digit in your VIN number. If it is not, it looks like they don't have a listing.
The K&N website lets you look all this stuff up. You can find filters by car type, part number cross reference (so you can find the matching K&N for your previous filter), or dimensions (so you can find any K&N filter that will fit).
