yup, saw that 65 L79 black sidepipe KO vert go for $75.6K - wonder what a few more horsies (say, 365 horsies for example) in a numbers Maroon vert with sidepipes, KOs and 53,000 original miles go for . . . . at BJ, of course, not in the real world.

i'm with you on that question!
;LOL

yeah Barry, at this rate the going price for our MM 65s will actually match what you have into yours . . . ok mine too . . . . :D

Thanks for the report,It seems BJ is the barometer of what this seasons pricing should be.What a season you say it starts after BJ and lasts until the next BJ auction.

This is the first year I am not watching it live since I have gotton speed channel. I purchased TIVO especially to record it for me and then I watch it and fast foward past the dull stuff, Whats the dull stuff you say ,anything not a muscle car.

Thanks again

Just entertainment to me........BJ...Is not the real world. It cracks me up when they show Craig The big man cheering after a car just went for 100K plus.....He's cheering because of that fat commision he just made...not to mention the registration fee and the sell on Weekend fee.

It's all about the money..... And..How much does Speed Channel pay him to televise the show??

Just sit back and have another :drink and enjoy the ride............

Oh I'm SO taking my car out there next year...:L I guess I might want to put wheels back on it first..:eyerole What's that old saying a fool and his money soon depart.... Dave..

Now watch the prices of '67 and '69 Olds 4-4-2 W-30's go crazy after two of them went for $100K last night :)

What I never realized is that Barrett Jackson has a commission fee for both seller and BUYER, no wonder he high fives his staff every time a big sale comes up, this guy must be rolling in dough. (8% i think).

250k for a 70 hemi cuda will also drive prices up for clones. I thought a nice 53 that sold which wasn't concours perfect should have fetched more. I haven't been impressed with SB vette prices overall compared to what other cars have been selling for; the 70k, 65 L79 was interesting though.

This year corvette prices are down right CRAZY!?!?:crazy :crazy :crazy WTF is going through the minds of these buyers???? My wife is glued to the auction, I am in big trouble when this madness ends tomorrow!!

I especially like the guy who bought the yellow 69 Z28 with the matching blazer. He paid a record price, I think 120+k. then bought a 1953 Vette for 250K. I saw him last night he was selling 3 Camaros in different colors and he had matching blazers to wear as he sold each car. It's defintely a Circus atmospher. They turn on the lights and you have your 15 second of fame . The problem is the remorse that sets in after the adrenaline withdraws. These prices can't last forever.

I have been out in the garage working on the 62 since getting home from work, the wife and kids have been yelling out prices to me on the 66 vettes,They all think they hit the lotto, I explained to them the prices are inflated because its an auction and the TV.

Earlier tonight a 53 was auctioned along with a matching (color combination & Vin derrivative) one-off 50th anniversary C5 as a package. It brought $550k as I recall!

You would think that the 53 might have been worth something in the range of $125-150 and the C5 something in the $75-100 range given it's being a special order. If those numbers are in the right range then the work the owner did to get the special order C5 to match the 53 brought him double what they might have been worth individually. That, and two determined bidders with deep pockets (one of them was the fellow with all the color matching blazers), brought the owner a hefty return on his investment. :s

. . . . . unless the seller has a reserve, then it's a 10% fee. On top of the ring fee, entry fee, bidder's fee, etc., etc., etc. . . .
