Keeping score at BJ

I know what you are saying, but when people are looking at high priced '65's they usually think of F.I. cars or 396BB cars.
Also, while the 327/365 is the top non FI SB, a car without PS (not available on our 365hp anyway), PB, PW, factory AC, or original factory KH KO's is what I would still consider a more "basic" car.
Hey, don't get me wrong, I LOVE my car as you do yours and you will get it from me when you can pry it from my cold dead hands, but I don't see the value legitimently being worth $70k.

Than when you see the above mentioned car with aftermarket AC, wrong belts and valve covers, it just boggles my mind. Personally, I think too many of the bidders at B-J have more money than brains and they get caught up in the excitement of the event and the crowd cheering.
My family has been in the auction business for almost 90 years so I have seen it happen all the time. it just takes 2 people that don't want to let the other person get the item and the bidding escalates beyond the true value of the item being bid on. I remember one time we were doing a farm sale and a 15 year old John Deere combine was being bid on. two farmers started against each other and they ended up taking the bidding up to almost $100k - over $20k more than a brand new one would have cost at the time!!

well, I gots them KH - Western KOs ;) and not-original-to-my-car side exhaust :) , and, low and behold, I gots me PS on my L76 (you are correct Barry, and the reason for it not being available with our L76s is the interference with the big (6 qt) oil pan, now replaced with a "5 qt" pan to permit the oem PS installation - I'll sell the 6 qt pan some day when I need to put my kid through college) - so she has walked a few steps away from NCRS correct, but the big bux boys at BJ don't seem to mind that too much . . . .

LOL
you sound like me.
I plan on adding the KO's myself and mine already has non-original-to-my-car sidepipes and teak wheel (well, maybe could be original but I have no documentation so no way to know one way or the other) and plan on adding AC also at some point. I do have leather as original which is nice. As for PS and PB, it would be nice for the car's value but I'm not about to change my oil pan to do it.

In either case, since that '65 had many non-correct parts but it was not a resto-mod either, I just don't see $70k being justified.
What scares me about prices like this is that prices on Vettes and muscle cars has been climbing thru the roof for a number of years and I feel if it continues at this rate and speed that eventually the whole market will crash. We could end up seeing values on our cars in the marketplace less than they were 5 years ago or even 10 years ago. The market on any product can only take so much before it "revolts".
