What year model vettes 92-96 came with keyless entry as a standard package? If my car didn't, then who sells one and is it easy to put one in my car?

1BAD92VETTE,

Passive Keyless Entry (PKE) became standard in ‘93 on all Corvettes.

There are aftermarket packages that will lock and unlock your doors, but I am unfamiliar with the manufactures and which ones produce a quality product. Forum members that can answer that part will chime in soon.

1BAD92VETTE,

In my post, I should have said that Passive Keyless Entry (PKE) was first introduced in ‘93 on all Corvettes (coupe, convertible and ZR-1).

The way I posted it as it becoming “standard” makes it sound as if it had previously been an option, which it was not. ‘93 was the first year for remote locking/unlocking as well as arming/disarming of the factory security system.

Since ‘93, Corvette has had some sort of key fob for remote locking/unlocking of the doors (and opening the hatch on coupe models).

Does anyone make a direct plug-in PKE for a 92 vette? I should have asked, Does anyone know of a direct plug-in PKE for a 92 vette? Thanks for the info.

1BAD92VETTE,

Unfortunately, I am unfamiliar with a direct plug-in for your ’92; that doesn’t mean it does not exist. I just don’t know what is out there for retrofitting or direct plug-in.

Is it possible to locate the PKE system from a salvaged ’93-’96 Corvette? You would need the antennas for the driver door and the rear deck and at least one key fob. I’m not sure, but the computer may need to be “told” that the PKE system has been added.

I took a look in my latest Ecklers and Mid America catalogs, I didn’t see anything right away that seemed to be what you are looking for.

Maybe someone here has added remote opening to their pre ’93 C4, and can point us in the right direction.

I guess no one knows or they are not saying. Guess I'll have to find out on my own.

I added keyless entry to my vette. It was made by bulldog security. It is a universal keyless entry system that will work on any car that has power door locks. It was also pretty easy to install and I bought it at jc whitney. As for a direct plug-in I do not know of one.

It sure would be nice to install one on my 92. I just got the car and want to do some small changes to it. Things like LED tail lights, PKE, and an electrochromic rear view mirror. If anyone else has any info on adding PKE to a 92 I sure could use it.

Bad; Welcome. Didn't your car come with a factory fob that opens the locks remotely? I thought that was standard, my 88 has it and my window sticker doesn't show it as an option...
In fact it doesn't show it at all. Maybe mine was added.

No. Not that I know of. I can't find any evidence that a PKE for my car was ever an option.

Try calling Chris May, Jeff Koop's replacement, at Superior chevrolet, 800
728-8267. He may be able to steer you to someone who has done the install.

OK. Thanks I'll try that. I would really like PKE for my 92. Does Superior Chevrolet have a website?
