Keyless Entry - wont work.

Have you checked the fuse (s)? PKE is #26 & RDO/ign #4?

I take it that the FOB door button does not work, door or hatch or anything Is that correct?.

I would recheck the battery you put in.

Vettelt193

I called the dealer ...140.00 WoW...

I want to test it some more or fine other ways to test it ..
before spending cash.

There is an outfit called GMparts that has em for under 100 bucks. Can't recall their address tho.

I am also curious to know if anyone out there has tried, or knows if the 97-99 Vette fobs will work on 93-96 Vettes (97-99 had a PKE switch, so you would have to leave the PKE switch on if it does work)

The reason why i am curious is they are much cheaper than 93-96 fobs, and if they work, then who really cares!

keyless entry

Did you guys ever get this problem fixed? I have same problem and bought new fob transmitter and it still did not work. Parts Dept at GM tested old transmitter and said it did not work ( new Batt in it). New one only would pop hatch and unlock Pass Door after programming. Drvr door buzzed but would not lock or unlock with remote. Doors lock manually / electrically so that part seems okay. Took Trans back and they said possible that it was bad. Awaiting new one. Man if it is the module I am going to be PO'd as the fob was $152. Where in the dash is the receiving module?? 94 coupe automatic. Thanks. :confused

if it unlocks the passenger door, then the transmitter is ok... did you press and hold the door unlock button until the locks unlock then re-lock? this is how you turn the system on and off... the system is passive, so they unlock when you walk up to the car without pushing any buttons...

Well no I didn't. I thought you had to push the button on the fob to unlock the doors. Also don't you push the button to lock the doors? Didn't have a book on this only the instructions that came with the transmitter. Just got the car so maybe I don't understand the system. Can you explain? Thanks.

Basically, you walk up to the car (i think 5 ft. from the drivers door, 3 ft. from the rear, or 3 ft. from the pass. door) and either the drivers door, or both doors will unlock (depending on how you set it up) so as long as you have the keys in your pocket, or with you, the car will unlock and dis arm the alarm... When both doors are shut and you walk away, the car will lock and honk the horn (system armed)... to toggle the system on and off, you press and hold the door unlock key until the locks cycle. so your system works, but it just isn't on. There is never a need to actually push a button, unless you have the passenger door setup to not unlock with the drivers door, or you want to pop the hatch.

Thanks so much for the reply. I certainly did not understand the system. I will be sending off for an owners manual and I have printed your instructions. Next time I will get it to work I'm sure.

Vette-dude,
Let me know how you do...I still can't get my key-less entry to work. I did what the manaul says, but no luck.

will do. have to wait on GM to get me a new transmitter though. That should take about 3 weeks to 2 years but then who is counting, Right? I will let you know the results though as soon as I can and as soon as I get the transmitter fob. :grinshot

Finally got the new transmitter and after re-programming it and checking the owners handbook to turn system on, IT WORKS!!
Had to re-program the fob three times and then had to turn the system back on as per the owners manual to get it operational. Thanks to all who gave their advice.

Not exactly part of the solution, but i have another question on this subject.

My FOB works fine but the key chain plastic part is broke. I have since super glued it back together(twice now), but was wondering if they make the "case" replacement. I dont need the electronics. I did check out Ecklers and $140!!!!!. No way. Any idea? GM Dealer?

Thanks,
John

John,

wish I could help you by sending you my old one but it is broke too. Heard of guys getting these off e-bay. I just bit the bullit and bought a new one. Maybe one of the other CAC members has one that the case is good. Good hunting!!

Randy

:cool

i think ebay is your best bet... you may also want to check your local corvette specialist... Mine keeps parts that are ok in case anyone wants something... I bought a working fob from him for $25
