I would like to ask the experts on this site, which they're are many, about putting a 'keyless entry' into my '89 coupe before I dive into sometihing I know nothing about. Can it be done without messing up the security system already on the car? Has anyone ever put one on and if so, what brand name? How diffulcult was the job and am I getting into something I should just forget? THanks for any and all information..!!

THis is my first corvette and I love it..!! '89 Coupe, Black/Black...84000mi..new alt., battery, starter, injectors, wheels, rims and CD...the exterior & interior are in excellent condtion..the only thing wrong with the whole car is the power antenna doesn't work....How did I do?

Hi Mag, sounds like a pretty nice car. Same year as mine, too. I also have a broken antenna, this weekend I'm going to replace the antenna mast, I bought a new one from ebay. If you hear the motor running in your antenna, you probably just need a new mast.

I have always wanted keyless entry on this car too, but I want the GM kit, so I'm getting ready to buy it. Here is a site showing how to do it, it looks pretty complicated:

Good luck

Thanks for the info..!! I thought there was more to it than these $49.96 kits have. Does seem to be a semi-major job. But I think I'll do it to...

I forgot the most important part of my first vet story. I paid $9500.00 for it.

I installed a kit from corvette central on my 92 (270.00), It is a plug in unit no cutting or splicing, The passenger door has to be taken apart and a wire fished from cabin, lower part of pass. dash also has to come apart, alarm works as before also opens rear hatch on coupe, according to the catalog your 89 uses the same part # 284104, a little pricey but it was worth it to me hope this helps, Rick

Rick,
Thanks for the information. That does sound a little eaiser than cutting wires, adding relays etc etc. Went to the site and looked but couldn't find. Did order some other stuff though, couldn't resist. Could you give me a URL where the kit is on their site? THanks again..!!

I did't have any luck either at their site, I went to ecklers site because they offered it too, the caption said out of stock/not back orderable it was 30.00 more there looks like maybe I led you on a wild goose chase you might try and call corvette central 1-800-345-4122 the catalog # I have is 84-96 4C page 114 sorry man Rick
