Hi!
I'm corvette '95 owner from Croatia(Europe).
I have bought a keyless remote transmitter for 1993-96.
With it I got the programming instructions but there is a problem!
The PKE light is not appearing on the DIC.
I have checked the fuse and it's OK. Should the PKE light appear for a few second on the DIC when I turn the ignition key on the ON position?
I would be very grateful if someone could help me!

Not if the PKE is turned off. The light will come on for about two seconds and then go out when the key is turned and the PKE is on. The PKE light should also come on and flash during the programming sequence. Follow the programming instructions and see what happens.

Can you elaborate on that guy? You have tried to begin the programming sequence and are still not seeing the light come on?

Possibly the light is burned out. Pretend to see the light and continue.

you can get them from gmpartsdirect.com, got mine for like $90 or so

I tried to programming without the light PKE but still nothing happened!!???

PKE

To program the fob;
Very important: Make sure the new fob is AWAY from the car (10 meters or so) then put the key in the ignition and turn it on (don't start the engine).
Press the trip/odo button twice then the fuel info button once. The pke light should come on. Turn the key off but LEAVE IT IN THE IGNITION. The pke light should now be on continuously.
Now bring the fob close to the car and the light should blink. If you have only one fob, turn the ignition off. If you have more than one, leave the ignition on and move the first fob away then bring the second close within a few seconds. Up to three fobs may be programmed.
Once programmed, the pke may be turned off by having the key out of the ignition then holding down the fob's door button for 2+ seconds until the locks cycle (when close to the car and doors closed). When the pke is turned off this way, the light on the dash never comes on, even when the key is first switched on.
To change between unlocking only the driver's door or both doors, put the key in the ignition (leave it off) and hold the door button on the fob down for 2+ seconds until the locks cycle. The manual doesn't say this but I think this also changes the fob sensor in the passenger door. If the fob is set to driver's door only, the sensor in the passenger door doesn't seem to work. So you must approach the driver's door or the rear of the car for the fob to unlock the driver's door.
The fob must be dangled so it swings like a pendulum for it to unlock the doors. If it's horizontal and essentially motionless, it may not unlock the doors.
By the way, '97 or newer fobs won't work with a C4.
Hope this helps.
John

If the light never comes on then it is likely either the PKE module in the dash is bad or the fuse for it is bad.

Fuse is cheap. PKE module is not. Check the fuse. Check for trouble codes stored on OBDI

PKE

Make sure you really need it before spending the bucks on a DIC. If you do need one, I bought an extra from this place for about $80 US
www.contemporarycorvette.com
Yes, they're a junk yard but they ship internationally and they came highly recommended. I got mine in 3 days and it was in perfect working order.
Good luck,
John

PKE

The fuse is OK!
How could I know that the PKE module is bed or not?

PKE and DIC

The cheapest fix (hopefully the one that's needed) is the fuse (seems good) or the light bulb in the dash.
The light bulb is in the DIC (Driver's Information Center) in the dash, located just above the heater and A/C controls. To remove it, remove the center A/C outlet, console lid (not required but easiest), then loosen the console cover (around the gear shift) and move it rearward about 3 or 4 inches. Putting the car in low (auto) or 4th (six speed) helps. Then remove the bezel around the radio, heater and DIC. The DIC has several screws (torx type) and a couple of electrical cords. Pull it out and disconnect the cords. The light bulbs are now easily accessible. Use an ohmeter to check them.
I don't know if exported Corvettes had PKE. Anyone know? If the bulb for PKE (lower left when reading DIC) is missing it may indicate a 'Delete option'.
If it were mine and the bulb were missing, I'd replace it anyway and hope for the best. The optimum finding is a burned out bulb.
None of this helps you determine whether your fob or PKE module is good but it may help you discover the source of the problem.
Good luck.

Vuk,
Did you check your RPO'S to see if you had option AUO (PKE)?

PKE is standard on all 93-96 C4s

Just thought there was a possibilty that it may be an export car & may not have it?

RPO list

My RPO list is on the bottom of the rear storage compartment lid (behind the passenger seat). I've read some threads that indicated their's is on the bottom of the console lid.
